Broadlands was originally opened in 1945 as a home for elderly retired people. It was and still is a non profit making registered charity, which enables us to provide retired people with a comfortable home at affordable prices. Broadlands is not a nursing or care home so our residents are active and independent. Broadlands staff can not, by law, provide personal care to residents but if this is needed it can be brought in from an outside organisation. 2009 Broadlands Homes Ltd.

We have 36 well furnished private en-suite bedrooms over three floors, there is a lift and stair lifts to aid the less mobile. We encourage residents to bring personal belongings or furniture into their room in order to make it as homely as possible. We have a comfortable TV lounge, where residents meet for tea and coffee, and films and documentaries are regularly shown. A variety of trips and events are organised for the residents, letting them choose which they want to participate in. An afternoon drive on a mini bus with a stop at a café is booked weekly. Lunch at a country pub or dinner in a restaurant are organised regularly, as are theatre trips, garden visits and rides on the steam railway.
