When Jess drags me along to Crate and Barrel, sales staff immediately understand by my uninterested body language that I'm the token husband. They treat me politely, but basically ignore me. It's benign neglect. The situation was different when Jess convinced me to go along last night so she could get a bathroom rug. It kind of looks like I'm incredibly engrossed in everything around me.
