Bronze Wombat

Sunday, March 18, 2018. Just when we thought the heat of summer had gone - it has returned! We're having what the weather people call a 'mini heatwave' for a few days. We still have to survive today and tomorrow and it should start to ease on Wednesday, just in time for when we head off in the caravan.and we will be going south where it's cooler anyway, so that's all right. Any sore heads from yesterday, St Patrick's Day? It was also International Quilting Day, did you know that? My quilt backing has bee...

Bronze Wombat: April 2015

http://bronzewombat.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 26, 2015. Where has this week gone? I swear, it was only Monday when I last looked. Stuff has been happening in the sewing room! This week has been busy, I was out almost every night to rehearse for Friday night's musical extravaganza tribute to Anzac Day, which was yesterday. The show ended with massed choirs singing from the balcony of our lovely old War Memorial Town Hall. Here are some of the wildlife we met on our holiday, first some ducks by the Murrumbidgee River. This quite amazing ...

Bronze Wombat: Glorious oceanic lusciousness!

http://bronzewombat.blogspot.com/2015/03/glorious-oceanic-lusciousness.html

Saturday, March 14, 2015. Late last year I was lucky enough to win a giveaway on Linda's. Blog, and yesterday my fabrics arrived from Sew Sisters. In Toronto, Canada.aren't they gorgeous? Colours of the ocean, from a tropical lagoon to a stormy sea! Thank you, Linda, for letting me join in, and thank you to Sew Sisters for such beautiful fabrics and for sending a second parcel when the first one failed to arrive. Hopefully, though, not too hot and not for too long. We've even had a little more rain, ...

Bronze Wombat: We're back......again!

http://bronzewombat.blogspot.com/2015/04/were-backagain.html

Sunday, April 19, 2015. We had a fun time on our holiday, Euan The Wonder Kid is growing - four months old today but not yet walking and taking, as we expected (obviously our expectations are a wee bit high) - all our family and friends in Canberra are well, and the folk festival was great. First up, Euan The Wonder Kid looking serious while relaxing on his father's lap a week ago:. Talk about living the life of Riley. He's not fading away, is he? Then we drove to Tidbinbilla. If only I could play a uke ...

Bronze Wombat: November 2014

http://bronzewombat.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 26, 2014. I won I won I won! Recently there has been a Canadian Blog Hop, and because we have family and many friends in Canada I was reading the blogs.and there were giveaways, and the fabrics were very luscious, so I entered my name on one. Thank you to Linda at Stitch Lines. And to Sew Sisters Quilt Shop. In Toronto, for my prize. It's a very small world these days because Linda knows Karen. Linda even said she would send me some cold air from Canada, isn't she a wonderful person?

Bronze Wombat: September 2014

http://bronzewombat.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2014. Squares in squares in squares. Over the weekend 25 blocks were made for Cricket/ette's quilt - that's how our son and DIL are referring to their baby. Some referenced his/her parents' jobs and interests.like this one, because son is a drummer and his kit is about the same colour as this little feller's drum. Mum plays French horn in a symphony orchestra and in a military band. Now that it is getting warmer the sights we see on our strolls down the main drag will get even bette...

Quilting in My Pyjamas: Being A Lady of Leisure

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2014/12/being-lady-of-leisure.html

Friday, December 12, 2014. Being A Lady of Leisure. I've been on holidays for 12 days and have spent it doing pretty much whatever I wanted, which so far has involved a fair amount of sweet stuff all. Usually I'm trying to pack 30 hours of stuff into a 24 hour day so being able to move at a snails pace if I choose has been seriously refreshing. This being (temporarily) unemployed thing is working out pretty well. The first thing I did was go on holidays for a week. And drink cocktails with. For brunch an...

Quilting in My Pyjamas: September 2014

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2014. Spring has really sprung here at Maison Pyjamas. Less than two weeks ago I was lamenting the fact that our cherry tree (which didn't lose its all of its leaves until August - slacker! Was still bare and barren. Today it looks like this which makes me happy because it means long, lazy, warm days will soon be a regular occurrence. I busted out a T-shirt this weekend and it felt sublime. I have to tell you it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Seriously! So I went with o...

Quilting in My Pyjamas: October 2014

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 26, 2014. Bloggers Quilt Festival -October 2014. So if it wasn't. For both myself and Fontella doing our bits this quilt would never have come to be a finished thing and I like the idea of having made a collaborative quilt with her , even if it was decades after she finished the top. And then I hung it in a cupboard and there it stayed for 4 or 5 years while I contemplated trying to find cream fabric to match, and the agony of hand sewing 400-500 teeny tiny hexies to finish it off. Oc...

Quilting in My Pyjamas: Living La Vida Loca

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2015/04/living-la-vida-loca.html

Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Living La Vida Loca. I spent the first few weeks of my new job travelling to the ends of the earth for training. For someone who has never travelled further than 15 minutes to work, an hour each way in bumper to bumper peak hour traffic was a truly horrendous experience. It was wonderful when I started at my permanent office, cut my daily travel time by about half and started to get in to some sort of routine. So this past weekend, I sucked it up, tied a rope around my waist (so ...

Quilting in My Pyjamas: July 2014

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Evolution of a Quilt. You may recall, a week ago I did a post about a rainbow of colour that I saw on my sewing room floor and the subsequent idea that popped into my brain. For a new quilt. Seriously people - sometimes you just gotta go with the flow, and so last week that's what I did. How it looked on Sunday when inspiration struck. On Monday I cut all those fabrics into strips. Tuesday - More cutting of plain fabric and I started strip piecing. Stats for the week:. I'm hoping ...

Quilting in My Pyjamas: In Search of Chocolate Chip Cookie Greatness

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2015/05/in-search-of-chocolate-chip-cookie.html

Sunday, May 10, 2015. In Search of Chocolate Chip Cookie Greatness. P at The Way I Sew It. Sent me a recipe which called for Crisco which isn't easily obtainable here, so I went online and had some sent over from USA Foods In Melbourne. It arrived on Thursday so I set about making her recipe on Saturday. You Americans just love to make shit difficult don't you? Round Two and Three went a little better.although I got distracted by Pinterest and Cupcake Mania on my iPad so some of my cookies got baked ...

Quilting in My Pyjamas: Lucky Dip Dining

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2015/04/lucky-dip-dining.html

Thursday, April 30, 2015. So I spent some of my Saturday night on the internets, looking up places I want to eat at then I made a list. I printed out the list , cut them up , folded them and put them into a jar. Then I cheated and pulled out the one for the sushi restaurant because that was the thought that started all of this so therefore it deserved to be first. So Mr P and I went off to Kintaro Sushi Train for lunch (which is Tazz's. You then have the choice of rugby tackling the unsuspecting thief.

Quilting in My Pyjamas: The Party is (Almost) Over

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-party-is-almost-over.html

Tuesday, January 13, 2015. The Party is (Almost) Over. Soit's been a month since I showed my face round here and it's high time to get back into some semblance of a routine, both online and in my actual life. The break has been lovely though, since we've celebrated Christmas, ushered in a New Year and Mr. P and I have enjoyed an overseas holiday in my rather prolonged absence. So what's been going on here at Maison Pyjamas? This was my sister in laws rendition of Darth Vader (which nobody guessed correct...

Quilting in My Pyjamas: April 2014

http://fairybreadmusings.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 20, 2014. I am the world's worst photographer, not least because I often simply forget to take pictures. I was all fired up to take photos at AQC, and pretty much forgot most of the time after that. Still, I got some eye candy to share. The Royal Exhibition Building in the Carlton Gardens - the venue for AQC 2014. Naturally there were plenty of quilts. These were a few of my favourites. See bottom of page for quilt credits. Gail Pan and Quiltygal (Claire) with Gail's fabulous fabric. Happy ...
