KNITTING and HARBOUR WORK DAY. June 13th - WORK DAY and KNIT IN PUBLIC DAY. An Interesting day, while BBA members weeded and cleared the paths outside the buildings and compacted the new floor in the bothy, a group of knitters took part in a 'Knit in Public day' in the Lighthouse store. New path and steps. On Saturday work started making the new steps to the shore beyond the Lighthouse store. Dave had done some initial work excavating the sand and stone to a firm foundation. Tom, Mick, Joan and Dave did a great job making shuttering and a big job, mixing a vast amount of concrete to fill the foundations. How many Fergies does it take to make a step? BBA work days - thank you to all who helped in 2014. Volunteers help to repair storm damage to the seawall. Brough Harbour needs regular maintenance to keep it in good order and functioning for the community. Grass cutting, removing seaweed from the slipway, pointing the slipway etc,& work on the Salmon Bothy. We now have a programme of regular work days on the second Saturday of the month. More great progres on the path. Fantastic turn outs on numerous work days during August. The steps are finished, the path is almost finished, waiting for the new slate bench. Some wild flowers have been planted along side the path. This is really great progress and it is looking amazing. It is going to be a fantastic asset to the harbour and the Association. ROUND SCOTLAND SOLO CANOEIST ARRIVES AT BROUGH. Nick Ray is canoeing around the coast of Scotland raising money for RNLI. Joanne Kaar made contact with Nick at Scrabster via twitter and invited him to call in at Brough Harbour for a bacon butty and coffee. Nick arriving from the mist in a very calm sea early this morning. David Glass welcomes Nick to Brough Harbour. Joanne and Ken taking a selfi.
