Our homes, imperfect as they are, must be a haven from the chaos outside. They should be a reflection of our eternal home, where troubled souls find peace, weary hearts find rest, hungry bodies find refreshment, lonely pilgrims find communion, and wounded spirits find compassion. (Jani Ortlund). August is about here.

More dresses and a bag (and a quilt! July 28, 2014 in Uncategorized. One of the ways I’m trying to use up every last ounce of summer before school starts (Monday! Is to sew as many Annie-dresses as I can, using fabric I have on the shelf already. This is from a pattern I bought years ago from this little online pattern shop. I’ve made the dress several times, and have really loved it. I made a slight alteration to the pattern to add buttons based on what I like in a crossover dress.). She’s four now.

Happy for the couch. November 15, 2014 in Uncategorized. I always forget how much simply throwing in a little bit of color onto a pretty blank canvas can completely change a room. I stitched up these pillow covers in short, reeeeallllly spaced far-apart chunks of time. Beginning of summer: pieced scraps together. End of summer: bought backing fabric. Early fall: quilted tops. Today: finally finished them with envelope backs (so easy! After a trip to Ikea for the pillow forms. Join 12 other followers.

March 8, 2014 in decorating. This is what the bathroom looked like when we moved in (the girls tried to help peel wallpaper on that back wall, only to discover more wallpaper underneath. I actually liked that wallpaper better, but I digress.). Their bathroom has a beautiful tile floor (white! Sorry for a potty picture. Just trying to help you get the full effect.). To get done what these guys got done in 2 days. And it looks tremendous, way better than what we would have been able to do. This is the only...

July 12, 2014 in Uncategorized. Saturday mornings sometimes are a nice mix of slow and work-things. Bacon, eggs, biscuits, laundry, a little cleaning, school planning. A good way to end the week. I finally finished the quilt I started for Amos awhile back. Feels like years ago now, but it’s probably not been that long) Procrastination does not get a job done, I’m told. I was trying to find just the perfect binding fabric, but finally decided to just go with a solid and get it done. Join 12 other followers.

My mom and dad came to visit this weekend, and Dad and Scott replaced one of the chandeliers. I found the lights at IKEA, and not only were they reasonably priced, but apparently they were easy to install! Not that I would have experience with that….it just seemed wonderfully easy because they were done in half a Saturday. I feel ...
