Pettus Pie: October 2014
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 23, 2014. Winners and Losers in Two of Life's Little Contests. It has occurred to me. That I never revealed the winner of the Great Sayid Mystery of 2012. More than two-thirds of our guessers picked "boy," so we had several front runners early on. We couldn't discover our winner, though, until a couple months after Emmett's birth, when his murky black eyes turned a definitive brown. His anticipation and excitement peaked when I finished and revealed that the winner was . Yes the car was...

Pettus Pie: Conquistador
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2013/03/conquistador.html
Monday, March 18, 2013. The ability to flaunt your animal-bottomed pants is one one of the added benefits of crawling. Emmett started crawling and has become DeSoto himself. I've been meaning to put an update about this for a couple weeks. Since then, he's built up some crawling confidence. Actually, Loin Fruit had been threatening to burst out into a crawl for a while. To entice him, I built dozens of block towers just out of reach. Food has always motivated me and my other kids, Rusty and Lily. It's a ...

Wellman and Company: November 2014
http://wellmanandco.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 7, 2014. Love, Marriage, THEN. God blessed us with an incredible gift. Baby Welly is Due May 2015! At 12 weeks baby is the size of a lime. I'm in constant awe of God's little miracle. We spent weeks keeping this a secret but we were very relieved to share our joy and excitement with everyone. After a lot of persistence, I also convinced Aubie to help us with our baby reveal! I made this little onsie and mailed it to him to get the perfect picture for our baby book :). PEAK of the week?

Pettus Pie: Gus Busts 7
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2015/08/gus-busts-7.html
Saturday, August 8, 2015. The day we took Gus's borrowed "rock-and-play" bassinet back to Aunt Rebecca. It was no longer safe to put him in since he was obviously trying to assert his dominance over it. Gus is 7 months. This was the age that I distinctly remember ( for Emmett. In which the baby calendar was crammed with entries boasting firsts — foods, experiences, and accomplishments. These are fine times. This photo was taken with plenty of natural light, and I did not alter the color balance at all.

Pettus Pie: This Is What One Year Looks Like
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2015/04/this-is-what-one-year-looks-like.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. This Is What One Year Looks Like. This is what one year looks like . It's beautiful. One year of existence to our Gus! He, of course, has spent most of the year under wraps, but it's amazing to think about how he's been with us for an entire 365 days now. And it's so strange to contrast my two April 28s . the one of 2014 and this one of 2015. On our red deck, playing YouTube hymns. Birthdays are great for mothers. With Emmett, I have spent his birthdays recounting the joy of ...

Pettus Pie: August 2014
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 21, 2014. Another Point for Motherly Intuition. Who guessed Petrie to be a boy! And congrats to Wade, who is even now envisioning all the yard work our two boys will accomplish for him. When we saw the ultrasound, we both knew instantly that we were looking at our new son's special places, and we exclaimed in delight. I hadn't an ounce of regret or sadness, like I thought I might (I wanted a boy, but I was afraid that no matter what gender Petrie turned out to be, I might be sad too).

Pettus Pie: May 2014
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Only an hour or so old and already smiling. And already, in his first few days of life, it seems George Alexander has decided to make things easier on Becca. For one thing, he was only. Nine days late (as opposed to Anne Marie, who was 14 days late! Here's a picture of Rebecca, George, Anne Marie and Emmett in the pool on the day she birthed George:. Like his sister (facing up instead of facing down, which is ideal). How considerate of him. Than Dr. D. Photo credit to Amy. With s...

Pettus Pie: September 2014
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Emmett Through the iPhone. Emmett showing his queso with LC. At a cousin sleepover in early August. And the whole summer gets away from me, here is a glimpse at some of Emmett's activities from the last couple months, as seen through the lens of a few different iPhones. Dabbling in the wearing of "big boy o-nees," which lasted about a week in early August (we are now almost always dry but still working on the BMs). Compulsively making piles of blue things. Pettus Pie: Avocado Bravado
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2013/02/avocado-aficionado.html
Monday, February 11, 2013. He eats like a champ. Emmett took a giant leap. Toward big-boyhood Saturday with his first official solid food (we're not counting the errant Cheerio or two he has managed to purloin from Anne Marie). It was a success. I think he's going to be a food enthusiast, just like his ol' mom and dad. The Wholesome Baby Food Guide. Details some of the main ideas I'm following. A lot of the book is found online here. If you're interested.). So Saturday was the big day. But we're not the ...

Pettus Pie: March 2015
http://pettuspie.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 20, 2015. Gus's Birth Story, Part Two. Herein lies Part II of Gus's birth story. Start here for Part I. As well as my disclaimer about how gross this story can be (but I did try to keep it tame this time! I told Wade during the drive that I was so nervous that we'd get there and I'd be proclaimed only barely dilated. This is exactly what happened to Rebecca when she was in labor with Anne Marie, and it was the the start of another 24 hours of labor in the hospital. Kind of patients." Of...
