Both are Equally Terrifying. May 16, 2014. August 6, 2015. The mere thought of being the only ‘intelligent’ beings in the universe brings up a multitude of overwhelming ideas. First, how do we define intelligent? And if we define it as something simple, such as the ability to make decisions using ‘free will’, then there’s also the question of whether we actually possess free will or simply possess animal-style reactive behaviors that mimic free will closely enough that we can’t yet tell the difference?
