Jessica in Belgium. and Beyond. Thursday, November 16, 2006. Hodgkin's Journal 16: No Active Cancer. My sister Christy and I came back from Chemo 5 late today and I feel very tired and steamrollered as usual. So I'm not quite at the point where I feel excited about the news but I didn't want to leave everyone in suspense. I'll just give it to you straight. Here is the point by point update from today:. The PET scan results are in and they show: no live cancer activity. My white blood cell counts were so ...

Jessica in Belgium... and Beyond: 5 Years Ago Today
http://jessinbelgium.blogspot.com/2012/02/5-years-ago-today.html
Jessica in Belgium. and Beyond. Wednesday, February 08, 2012. 5 Years Ago Today. 5 years ago today on February 8th 2007, I walked out of the UZ Brussels hospital after having my LAST CANCER TREATMENT EVER. In the 6 months leading up to that day, I experienced 4 cycles of chemotherapy, 32 sessions of radiation to chest and neck, one blood clot hospitalization, one lost friendship, one lost job, and one relationship that was totally falling apart. Who kept up with the weekly news from a distance. Mom Mom, ...

Jessica in Belgium. and Beyond. Wednesday, October 25, 2006. Hodgkin's Journal 11: Hats Off to Cancer! A big thanks to all the ladies who helped to make a really fun "Girls With Hats" party last night! Although I am not yet bald as predicted, it was great fun to get together under a headcovering theme. Each girl brought some food and wore a fun hat. Many of the girls left their hats behind as gifts or loaners for me to enjoy in the cold months ahead. Spot, then you'd have too few. How about we. There are...

Jessica in Belgium. and Beyond. Tuesday, November 14, 2006. Hodgkin's Journal 15: NUCHTER: A Day at the PET-ting Zoo. Don't get too excited. I don't have PET scan results until Thursday but I'll be sure to post as soon as I have the news (or, as it will be a chemo day, maybe I'll get my care bear on duty to do it! But I had my PET last Thursday and although I described a bit about the scan process before, I just feel that there is more I need to add, you know,. I mean whose brilliant idea was that? It wa...

Jessica in Belgium. and Beyond. Saturday, October 14, 2006. Hodgkin's Journal 9: Slave Labor Introduced down at the Bone Marrow Plant. Well now I know what happens when you fail a blood test. I want to point out that I did not fail. My WBC (white blood cell count) was 4,000 which is the minimum you need to fight off infection and continue to recieve chemo (you recall what I said about getting out the ruler? Brief Aside: The word "treatment" seems so wrong doesn't it? Cancer, look out! Something to be sai...

Jessica in Belgium. and Beyond. Sunday, November 05, 2006. Hodgkin's Journal 14: Alternative Therapies. Hat of the day provided by Cousin Patti). Today I am high energy and fancy free (that's your warning that long nonsensical ramblings lie ahead). Now that I'm in the groove of chemo (pardon the oxymoron there), I'm finding comfort in alternative therapies. Rubber Ducky, You're the One.". My, She Sure is Busy for an Invalid. Pathetic really.
