Monday, May 12, 2008. 5-12-2008 Update and 6 Month mark. HI all. Dad has done great this last month. much work on his arms and upper body strength, lots of work on his legs and walking with braces. He is totally in a manual wheelchair now and gets around very well (speed demon that he is. he wanted the chair that had the racing lights but it did not fit him well! He still has a ways to go but it looks as if May 19th will be his last day at New England Rehab Hospital. More on that later. Did he enjoy that!

Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Sorry for the delay in posting. crazy couple of weeks. Dad is doing great. His progress is steady and continuing. He got his braces last week (one with a cow pattern in black and white and one with a dalmation pattern. Amy jokes that he is mooing and barking as he walks! He does not have a roommate at the moment. had a brief one in Murray, a nice older gentleman from Gorham, who was there for a few days. Tuesday, May 20, 2008. 5-20-2008 OUT OF THE HOSPITAL. Yesterday, May 19th, 2008, Dad moved out of the New England Rehab Hospital and into the Extended Stay America in Scarborough. He has a handicapped accessible suite there with a small kitchen. Amy, Alicia, Gram and Gram and Shuyn got him settled tomorrow with food in the kitchen and everything he needs. Sunday, June 29, 2008. Dad is continuing to improve! His braces have been cut back from full leg to just the calf and ankle. He is walking (yup! With crutches and without (! The hoyer lift. He has progressed to doing stairs and is slowly but surely regaining his strength and getting his balance under control.
