I am a contemporary jewellery designer and maker based in rural Shropshire. I first set up my jewellery business in 2011 having graduated in Jewellery and Silversmithing at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. I now work from home in a converted stable in the heart of Shropshire. I am very pleased to say that my workshop is powered by wind and photovoltaic cells. Silver jewellery is susceptible to tarnish. If you want to brighten your pieces up I would recommend using a soft bristled toothbrush and some warm soapy water. This provides a gentle cleaning and will not affect the surface finish. Silver Dip' is also available in most supermarkets. This should be used by following the manufacturers instructions on the label. I would not advise using this product if the item of jewellery has any gemstones as they may be affected by the solution.
