A log of rambling, mountaineering, and other outdoor excursions. Friday, 15 April 2011. Sun 10 Apr 2011. four peak challange. Central Brecon Beacons in Wales. We set out after lunch around 13:00hrs in glorious sunny weather to climb the 4 main peaks in the Central Brecon Beacons. The target was to complete the excursion by 18:00hrs latest. The boys" have to now carry their own food and water. We decided to use the main tourist footpaths as you will note from our route map. Our aim was to climb Corn.

We set out on an approximate 4mile circular excursion over the Graig Cerrig Gleisiad. GS leading up Craig Cerrig-gleisiad. We started out from the lay by car park on the A470 and headed through the picnic area in a westerly direction up the steep climb over Craig Cerrig-gleisiad. Heading over the ridge towards the western face of Fan Frynych.

We set out on a circular route to locate the crash sites of Wellington Bomber BJ697. And DeHaviland Vampire VZ106. GS and KL heading up towards Burnt Mound. We started out from Carreg Haffes farm. Off the A4067 and headed up over the Burnt Mound. In a north by north-westerly direction. All that remains of Wellington BJ697.
