If it doesn't make maintenance easier, increases performance, adds needed functionality or simplifies the application in some way, just don't do it. These intellectual calisthenics are better served on your personal projects, not in a team environment. It's not about you, it's about the application. It's no wonder projects are over budget.

Must I reach out from my repose to put my greasy paws on my screen. I'll admit I could be missing out on something really great here. But the 'oh yeah' moment hasn't happened. Display. It wasn't until Windows first came out that it made any sense ( da first one. Maybe the same thing will happen with touchscreens. Until then, keep your hands to yourself.
