Linguistic paradoxes are so much fun. The screen shot at the beginning is from the Star Trek television show. It is from the episode entitled, “I, Mudd,” which first aired in 1967. I was fortunate to have Professor Kuhn from the School of Cinematic Arts at USC join me once again. This time we talk about fair use and how ideas about media remix are changing. The four criteria Professor Kuhn mentioned are:. Purpose (ex. non-commercial, educational). Nature (ex. criticism, scholarship, news, satire, teaching) Amount used (ex. use no more than is necessary to achieve goals). More sources on fair use: http:/ www.publaw.com/work.html. Modern Feminist: Codes of conduct and my new influx of hate spam

Codes of conduct and my new influx of hate spam. By now, anyone who reads blogs with any sort of regularity has surely read this. Kathy Sierra's public statement about online harassment), this. The NY Times article) about this. The call for a blogging code of conduct), and maybe even this. A helpful overview of the situation from one of my favorite bloggers). You've also probably heard, underneath the Virgina Tech cacophony, that the Duke rape case was thrown out last week due to a lack of evidence.

http://spadesaspade.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 15, 2006. Because text is all I got. Posted by bethany at 10:29 PM. Monday, May 01, 2006. It's my last videoblogging class video. This vlog though, it's really been a wonderful experience - so I think I'll keep it going. My video camera officially stinks, so I think I'll have to invest in a new one sometime soon. Either that or find someone who fixes cameras. but really, is there such a thing as a consumer level camera repair shop? I'm rambling. Michael Hyde. Posted by bethany at 1:45 AM.

a spade's a spade: discovering american
http://spadesaspade.blogspot.com/2006/04/discovering-american_04.html
Tuesday, April 04, 2006. If you'd like to see it and can't figure out the picture link, use this. These two lovely darlings are my favorite children in the entire world. This was taken a year ago whilst I was visiting them during my stay in New Zealand. This is nothing anywhere near "dangerous" vlogging, nor does it have anything to with what I'm doing on here - but it's a nice little break. And besides, who couldn't take a little bit of cute once in a while? Posted by bethany at 8:48 AM. Cops in the hood.

http://spadesaspade.blogspot.com/2006/04/creative-process.html
Sunday, April 02, 2006. So without procrastinating any further. It's a little bit different today. I decided to expore the world of videotaped writing sessions and discovered that I would much rather talk to the camera than write (go figure). No one can ever say that I'm a camera shy person, thats for sure. On a side note- I think I'm going to do vlog week! But are more so that I have a permanent record of them - hopefully you'll find them interesting too! Posted by bethany at 9:54 PM. Eeeeeh Monkey Monk...
