BuboBlog: a New York City Dad: Snow Baseball
http://buboblog.blogspot.com/2015/03/snow-baseball.html
Tuesday, March 10, 2015. In the spirit of taking advantage. Of the last remaining snow, Elliot invented a sport named Snow Baseball. It's a little hard to connect with the ball, but at least there's little risk of injury (other than frostbite). Labels: BuboBlog Attempts a Sports Reference. Follow Me on Twitter. BuboBlog: a New York City Dad: What's More Fun: Decorating Eggs or Breaking Them?
http://buboblog.blogspot.com/2015/04/whats-more-fun-decorating-eggs-or.html
Sunday, April 05, 2015. What's More Fun: Decorating Eggs or Breaking Them? When you're the third-born child, you get thrown into activities without a lot of explanation. That's certainly the case with Lulu, who spent Saturday trying to figure out the art of egg decoration. She didn't manage to decorate any eggs, but she did have a good time cracking them. This video feels like a sequel to one I did in December: " The Ornament Thief. Follow Me on Twitter. Someone Call an Exterminator. Alice vs. Alice.

Tuesday, May 05, 2015. Sewing It All Together. The latest art installation to set up shop on the southeastern corner. Of Central Park has a sewing theme. The work, by Italian artist Tatiana Trouvé, consists of giant spools of thread. Apparently the threads are supposed to represent the many paths in Central Park. From the website of the Public Art Fund. Which sponsored the work:. Maybe this work will inspire them to change their ways. Follow Me on Twitter. Has Brooklyn Lost Its Cool? Not as a Baby Name.
BuboBlog: a New York City Dad: We Take Mother's Day Seriously
http://buboblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/we-take-mothers-day-seriously.html
Monday, May 11, 2015. We Take Mothers Day Seriously. To say Mother's Day is a pretty big deal in my household is liking saying football is a pretty big deal in Texas. The kids go NUTS. Alice couldn't sleep on Saturday night because she was so excited about Mother's Day. She and Elliot got up at 6 am the next morning, like it was Christmas, and immediately tried to wake me up too. BuboBlog: a New York City Dad: 'Easy Come, Hard Go'
http://buboblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/easy-come-hard-go.html
Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Easy Come, Hard Go'. The kids and I were making our way down Main Street when a balloon floated across the sidewalk in front of us. It must have seemed like a minor miracle to them: The balloon had enough helium to float, but not enough to climb more than about 5 feet above the ground. It was just wandering around Roosevelt Island like a bumblebee. Unfortunately, when we got the playground, Alice let go of the string. No," he wailed. "Easy come, hard go.". Follow Me on Twitter.

The Undertoad: My Room 101 fear/A letter to Sophie
http://toadslair.blogspot.com/2014/08/my-room-101-feara-letter-to-sophie.html
You got a heart and I got this big, big lance.". August 21, 2014. My Room 101 fear/A letter to Sophie. A friend once told me a story about how her father would prepare she and her younger sister for someone with a weapon to attack them unexpectedly. While sitting in a restaurant waiting for their order to arrive, he might say to them, "A man with a gun busts in through the front door of this restaurant. What do you do? Every parent I've ever talked to knows the fear. THAT fear. We can be at the playgroun...

The helicopters have finally moved away from over my apartment - they've been following the middle-east protesters as they move around the city. Still going strong from yesterday, I guess, which makes sense for a conflict thousands of years in the making. Everywhere else I read it's goodbye and good riddance to 2008. Such a shitty news cycle - Arianna Huffington. I personally also can't wait to turn the page to 2009. To feeling fine in '09! To having a good time in '09! Tuesday, December 30, 2008.
From, Me: Bad About Writing
http://fromme-fromme.blogspot.com/2009/02/bad-about-writing.html
I can always bring to term this heavy pregnant balloon of words waiting to burst from me. Or can I? I'm just so afraid of the labor pains and whether what emerges will be healthy and beautiful or deformed and sickly. And whether it'll be followed by a sense of catharsis or the deep depression of the post-partum. Something's in there, it's on the upswell, it's starting to kick. The belly of my brain is bloating, it's contracting. Coward, I am, by not pushing I abort. Saturday, February 14, 2009.
From, Me: Quit Plane' With My Emotions
http://fromme-fromme.blogspot.com/2009/02/quit-plane-with-my-emotions.html
Quit Plane' With My Emotions. Wednesday, February 04, 2009. I thought I was the only one who did this. I started crying on planes about three years ago, and I'm not sure I've had a tear free flight since. A couple times I tried getting a little drunk either before or during the flight, but that didn't help. I was just sloppier. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 7x7 is not Enough. From, Me: 7x7 is not Enough
http://fromme-fromme.blogspot.com/2009/02/7x7-is-not-enough.html
7x7 is not Enough. I just learned that my ex-boyfriend is relocating to San Francisco, and all I can think is, this city isn't big enough for the both of us. Hopefully, since he's got kids and a wife and stuff now he'll settle out in the 'burbs somewhere far from here, and I'll never run into him unexpectedly on that one day I decided not to wash my hair. 7x7 just isn't big enough. Envy is a Green Dress. It's perfectly shaved legs stretching on for a mile. It's a husky voice and a whip-smart wit and a sense of entitlement. And who am I? I'm just the one feeling left out like I'm in a bizarro world first grade, one where sex gets thrown into the mix, so much sand in a sandbox, tossles over who gets the best toy. Sunday, March 25, 2007. I'm thankful to end the day on a better note. Was starting to seem like yin-yin-yin. Or is it yang-yang-yang? Thursday, March 15, 2007. It's Sunday, ...

I come home sapped, tapped, completely out of ideas, yet my bones want to write and create when the brain just feels mush. Craving the escape of words but just not finding it in me. So I blather and rattle, regurgitate the day's news or tell a pointless story about the day. And then today comes, and I just really truly have nothing to say. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Dear Jon, Dear Jon,. By the time you read this note, you'll be gone. I picture you knocking the sign and knocking it down again the next nig...

The wind whooshes outside and I just ate cereal for dinner while watching America's Funniest Home Videos. I feel sort of pathetic, and am absolutely dreading the thud of work's start on Monday. With everything I have, I hope they don't have to redo the surgery. It's been difficult thinking positive but I'm trying so hard. I went back east for a week to take care of my dad and that helped me feel not quite so useless. None of us have any control over the situation and that's hard to swallow.

Thursday, March 17, 2016. Red Roosevelt Island: a Photo Essay. Here's a fun activity if your kids are driving you crazy: take them outside and have them photograph things of a certain color. (Hopefully they don't break your camera or phone in the process.). We did this recently — and since we live on Roosevelt Island, which has a signature color — we chose red. Here is the result.
