Mystery vintage handwork tool. June 28, 2009 at 10:33 pm ( 1. This is from Britain from a group of tools from the 1800’s. It was sold with wooden needles, bone crochet hooks and 2 pointy small tools-stilettos. Have no idea what this could be. The etchings are darkened with a reddish. Color and 2 vaguely resemble hearts or a squid. It would be the perfect size to hold a variety of different colored threads. But that is only speculation on this mystery vintage tool- probably made for. Oooh can I have it?

Somewhere in Dhamma…. August 20, 2011. I’ve finally had enough of the ads WordPress sticks to the bottom of my posts, so I’m moving to:. Http:/ somewhereindhamma.blogspot.com/. I’ve been considering it for a while, but was too attached to three years of stats to let go. In the end, the reader’s experience is the most important thing, so I’m doing it…. Apologies to all those who will have to edit links and stuff. Filed under Somewhere in Dhamma. 十 In the World. August 20, 2011. How many ages of suffering.

二 Discovering the Hoofprints | Somewhere in Dhamma...

Somewhere in Dhamma…. 二 Discovering the Hoofprints. August 10, 2011. Disoriented, distracted, unaware, and unmindful. At the bank of the river I sit for a moment to soak my feet. Hands cupped, I bring the cold, clear water to my face. Wet hands rubbing my neck. I feel the dirt running down my back. For the first time, I am aware of the smells surrounding me. Taking in a deep breath, I notice something…. Hoofprints in the soil, leading behind a bamboo grove. Even its ghostly snort is difficult to place.

Somewhere in Dhamma…. 五 Taming the Ox. August 13, 2011. I don’t dare take my eyes off the ox for a single moment. The dust has just begun to settle. Still gripping the rope, it now hangs slack. Occasionally brushing the ground. The ox comes over and nudges my arm with its nose. I rub his forehead and scratch behind his ears. It’s time to move on. I loosen the knot from around the ox’s neck. He follows me by his own will. His dark coat becomes white. One does not let go of the whip or the rope,. Honestly,...

Somewhere in Dhamma…. 六 Riding the Ox Home. August 16, 2011. Returning home at last. Piously, I sit on the ox’s shoulders. Every leaf and every twig greet us. With their inherent melody as we pass. I take a bamboo flute from my cloth bag. And play a tune in the key of “Om”. A cup of tea will be nice. So, from an experiential point of view, this is where the Ox Herding series gets really difficult, but at the same time, this is also where it gets profoundly simple. Monday Morning Blues; Get Behind the Mule | Somewhere in Dhamma...

Somewhere in Dhamma…. Monday Morning Blues; Get Behind the Mule. August 15, 2011. I was really tempted to go with Vera Hall’s Wild Ox Moan. But this Tom Waits song is the one I’ve had in my head all week. Despite the titles, the content of this one is more inline with working with the ox. If Tom Waits is too rough for you, John Hammond Jr. does an excellent cover, here. Click to email (Opens in new window). Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).
