I think anybody can build a boat if they take their time and get help when you run into the situations where you are unsure of how to proceed. Was the Ladybug design a good choice? Sadly, I am still waiting to get it in the water. I’ll update this section when I have used it a little….or a lot. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Middot;...

Building Jim Michalak’s Ladybug. I thought that instead of scattering thoughts on useful tools and other products here and there it may be helpful/useful to others to list the tools and materials used in this project. 8211; I have an old set of Marples blue handled chisels that also received the waterstone treatment years ago. Chisels are also very useful for all kinds of things. 8211; These keep the wood being cut pressed against the fence. Used in combination with a holddown (I always used pieces o...

Building Jim Michalak’s Ladybug. I have read several books about small boat building, sailing, sails and so forth. Here is a list of books and websites I have found useful:. Chuck Leinweber’s duckworksmagazine.com. Chuck’s great site on all aspects of small boat ownership. His sister site, Duckworks BBS (Boat Builder’s Supply). Is where I bought my plans, hardware, epoxy, etc, etc. The best service you could ever ask for. Chuck and Sandra are boatbuilders and were unbelievably helpful. Building Jim Micha...
