Inside The Building Workshop. Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Day 1, The existing 1 story 750sqft bungalow -. Stripped to the studs, the bungalow is now naked to the world. New Slab ready to be poured - A lot of dirt was moved and packed to get to this point. Third floor framing begins and stair tower climbs higher. Third floor framing progresses with the addition of roof members. A view from inside the stair tower looking straight up. After the second floor was in place we began to erect the stair towe.

Inside The Building Workshop. Monday, April 1, 2013. The first layer of stucco looks good, also known as the "scratch coat". Lots of scaffolding surrounds the house making it easier for the stucco to be applied. Francisco and Jesus installing the soffit (also known as ceiling flooring). The master bedroom is currently the workstation for the tile installer. The kitchen is coming together nicely, drywall is up and windows are installed. The master bath is under construction. Inside The Building Workshop. Tuesday, October 1, 2013. The original home is a modest bungalow. The house was built in 1942 in Mission Beach, then moved to its final location in 1962. A very dated kitchen - notice the green oven? This view is from the living room, through the house and into the backyard. In only a few short days the house is reduced to it bare frame. When I was studying in Rome in 1996, I took an overnight train to Paris for a three day trip to visit the holy grail of Modern Architecture .the Villa Savoye by LeCorbusier. The house, built between 1928-1929, had suffered through decades of neglect and unfortunately, on my arrival to the front gate of the property, I was confronted with a "CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS" sign!
