Burgundy has an excellent climate, with long hot summers, accompanied with cold but very dry and short winters. From spring until late September and sometimes beyond, the climate is warm and dry with summer temperatures often reaching 30ºC plus (86ºF). It is this semi-continental climate which makes possible the culture of vineyards and help make some of the best wine produced in France.

Welcome to our house in St Colombe-en-Auxois. View of the house from the front. We think the house is about 200 years old. It was obviously a workers cottage attached to the Farm which would have served the Chateau in front of the house. The house is made of local (from Pouillenay-en-Auxois) stone, with the walls about 75 cm thick. The house is built into the side of the hill and is perched on a rock shelf which you can see in some places in the walls (back of living room, for example).
