Exploring Oak Mountain | The Burns Bunch

These are truly cherished days. We went to Oak Mountain State Park this past weekend and thought it would be a fun idea to take the kids out in a canoe for the first time. Shawn had a good time. He enjoyed helping us paddle and getting into the water to swim around a little. So, renting a canoe turned out to not be the calm, fun event that I had imagined. :) Thankfully, both kids had fun playing in the water with Daddy beside the canoe. These are truly cherished days. While we were in Georgia, we went to Summer Waves for the day! It was the kids first time at a water park and they loved it! Despite it being different, I still had a great time experiencing it through their little eyes. They had a blast and loved everything, but I would say that the slides were a winner for favorite thing of the day! But really, they were so giddy with excitement about everything! Let’s Play →. These are truly cherished days. Last week was the last full week of Shawn’s Summer, so we decided to go to Six Flags for our Summer Finale! It was the kids first time and I was a little unsure of how it would be. I don’t normally think of it as a little kid place and I knew it would be blazing hot outside. It turned out to be a great last family day of the Summer. I loved watching how much the kids enjoyed everything. Discovering new things with them is one of my favorite Mama things. Pouring my heart out.

These are truly cherished days. Shawn started First Grade last Thursday! I don’t even know how the summer flew by so quickly, but it did. It was over in the blink of an eye, but we packed lots of fun in! My big kid was so excited for school to start again. Shawn has had a great first few days! There he goes again, off into the world alone. Thank goodness it was only for 7 hours and then he returned safely to me! I was so happy to have him home and hear all about his first day! These are truly cherished days. This new indoor play area opened a few weeks ago called “Let’s Play.” It is the perfect thing to do when you just can’t bear the thought of spending the day in the summer heat, but want to get out of the house. We stayed alllll day long, leaving for just a short while to eat lunch. The kids still never grew tired of it. At the end of the day, my phone was full of terrible blurry pictures like these. First grade is barreling toward us like a freight train. ) -Mandy.

Who would’ve ever thought that Victoria would be an October baby instead of Thanksgiving baby, 4 whole weeks early? Good for the Soul. Despite our rule this year of not getting each other an anniversary gift, Mandy couldn’t resist and still got me a small gift for our third year anniversary.
