Bushcat goes west: Nigeria - End of Round Two
http://bushcatswest.blogspot.com/2010/10/nigeria-end-of-round-two.html
Friday, October 15, 2010. Nigeria - End of Round Two. Well, believe it or not, another month is done and dusted! I travelled to the airport with 2 colleagues, one of whom (Diggs Benincasa) used to serve in the 2nd Bn. Transvaal Scottish, albeit a bit before my time. Small world indeed! We had our path through check-in smoothed by the bank's protocol officers once again and I managed to get through immigration and customs without being asked for dinner money which was also good. Gosh, I am easily pleased.

Bushcat goes west: August 2010

Sunday, August 29, 2010. Lagos, Week 4. Who would believe that I am already only two days away from the end of my first tour of duty in Lagos. It is quite an interesting time to be here with all the goings on. Firstly the power utility staff went on strike for two days and nobody noticed! Anyway on Tuesday night I fly home and I can't wait! Richard, Karen and Rebecca. A tribute to Jack. We will miss you Jackal Dog! Richard, Karen and Rebecca. Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Lagos in pictures two. The fruit sta...

Bushcat goes west: December 2010
http://bushcatswest.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 10, 2010. Tick tock, tick tock. Well I'm sitting in the Gabvol lounge at the airport having checked in for the last time. Bag is checked in, been searched, travelling in flip flops to make the shoes and belts off routine a bit easier. They were certainly doing things in style. We spent about 3 hours doing work stuff and then had lunch followed by games and some dancing. Luckily the token white guy didn't have to do much dancing! 160; . Richard, Karen and Rebecca. Tick tock, tick tock.

Bushcat goes west: 2 weeks down, 2 to go
http://bushcatswest.blogspot.com/2010/11/2-weeks-down-2-to-go.html
Monday, November 29, 2010. 2 weeks down, 2 to go. A fairly uneventful week was had by all. Main source of major annoyance was the fact that the internet was down all weekend so I couldn't stay in touch with Kaz and Becca Weasel via Skype at all! And he needed to go to work, never mind the market. On Sunday I got stuck into the latest book by Peter Godwin, The Fear, about the election rigged by Mugabe in 2008. A pretty depressing tale of violence and intimidation on a grand scale. . 2 weeks down, 2 to go.

Bushcat goes west: 5 more Nigerian nights!
http://bushcatswest.blogspot.com/2010/12/5-more-nigerian-nights.html
Sunday, December 5, 2010. 5 more Nigerian nights! Well, this is the last weekend I'll be spending in Lagos. For this assignment anyway. I spent a fairly uneventful week at work but it did however herald the arrival of the permanent head of market risk, Ladi. At last, someone to hand the reins over to! Other than a quick update from the airport on Friday night, wireless permitting, this is my last blog from the wild west. . I hope so, but I'm not holding my breath. Richard, Karen and Rebecca.

Bushcat goes west: Naija @ 50!!
http://bushcatswest.blogspot.com/2010/10/naija-50.html
Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Well, as I type this I have only got 8 more working days before heading home. Can't wait! On my way back from my normal Saturday morning run from Banana Island I was passed by a long cavalcade of black cars making their way onto Banana. Turns out it was the president on his way to open something or other. He could have stopped for a sweaty handshake, don't you think? 160; . Richard, Karen and Rebecca. Bushcat goes west: September 2010
http://bushcatswest.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 25, 2010. Seconds out, Tour of Duty number 2! Well, I was warned. They do say that no-one comes to work in Lagos for only 1 month, it is generally extended and so it was no different for me too. So my second month starts and runs till 15th October. I was asked for some money by the guard manning the x-ray machine but I played dumb and kept moving. Cheek! The timing of my trip home also coincided with a birth! So, mulberry leaf picking is the order of the day. Cancelled, it was not!
