The Great Road Trip: Part III “Back Again”. April 1, 2016. Sun sets in the Outback while I snuggle down with my love by a fire. Our trip back to Melbourne was much like our trip into the Outback. Long stretches of driving filled with Harry Dresden audio books, I think we listened to books 10, 11, and 12, then stopping at anything that struck our fancy. The app “WikiCamps” was again invaluable in finding just the right place to stop every night. Keeping cool with a quick prayer in the underground church.

Every year I go somewhere for a Christmas holiday so this year saw me heading to Brisbane for a week, with my main goal, to finally obtain tick-able views of the elusive King Quail. After hiring a car from the airport I drove to Rainbow Beach, had lunch and waited for the late afternoon before heading to Cooloola. I spent the next ...

The birds you find when looking for birds. A couple of hours birding in the late afternoon over the weekend was event filled. Mainly because I had not really planned to head into the wetland. I was in shorts and wearing sandals, had no sunscreen or insect repellent nor was I carrying water. Immature Welcome Swallow after it's feed.

Eyre Peninsula Birding and Shark Diving. After an almost 6 month break from birding I have finally managed to get out onto a short roadtrip. With limited time I decided to head west to the Eyre Peninsula where I could spend more time birding and less time driving. An hour in the cage provided excellent views of 6 Great White Sharks.

This is a site to share my birding experiences! I am passionate about birding and hope that this may inspire others to explore the world of birds too! Tuesday, March 11, 2014. After being washed out of Eungella I had one day in Mackay. Sadly my 100mm-400mm lens took in water up on the mountain to the point where is was so fogged up I was unable to use it. I'm hoping it will dry out but it may need to be sent off for repair. This is the foggy look through my water-logged lens. Chocolate Argus. I booked in...

What better way to escape the rain than head north to Gluepot Reserve and spend a day photographing birds? It has rained all week in Adelaide yet Gluepot received less than 4mm, not even enough to settle the dust on the tracks. Here are a few photos from today. There are certain angles that birds should not be photographed on!

South Australian Coastal birding. There is nothing quite like birding in the coastal samphire saltbush marsh and mangroves in SA. A magnet for cool birds. Stay there, eat your lunch there, stay still and quiet and LISTEN for them! I spent a few hours enjoying Port Gawler and Port Wakefield and came home with a few shots for my efforts.
