It’s a New Year! Happy New Year everyone! I really wanted to post during the break, but was very overwhelmed with the holiday hustle-bustle and just trying to spend some quality time with my family. Hopefully I can start posting regularly again. Also, I want to welcome Clayton to the Butterfly Garden Family. He started Monday and has so far had a smooth transition. November Curriculum | The Butterfly Garden

For the month of November we are focusing on the change of season and what kinds of things we see….Leaves falling and changing colors, different weather and Thanksgiving! There is a new art display board in the classroom and the children have made the border with leaf collages. Each month the children will make the border to fit the theme. Some of the art projects we will be doing for our November theme will be posted in the art/sensory project category. Pumpkin pie, Irene. Cottage cheese, Aiden.

Ewan D and Asa B. Sunday, February 17, 2013. Asa has been taking steps for the last few weeks, but hasn't really taken off yet. Today, however, he learned how to stand up without pulling up on anything, and this seems to have motivated him to try walking more. We had Asa's six month well baby appointment a little on the late side, so we just got the latest stats:. Length: 27 inches (61st percentile). Weight: 21 pounds (91st percentile). Head Circumference: 18 inches (90th percentile). He is off the charts in weight-for-length. Officially fatter than 100% of babies his age. (How does that work? Monday, June 4, 2012. Ewan D and Asa B. Thursday, August 2, 2012. Asa is 8 months old. That's our little water lover right there. He is well on his way to fitting right in in Santa Cruz. Asa is not mobile yet (and I am thankful for that because I am terrified of trying to babyproof with all of Ewan's little toys lying around), but he is starting to get more determined to move. He leans way forward while sitting and sometimes gets to his belly that way, and he scoots around a fair amount when he's lying on his back or belly.

Watch for new tricks of the perfected "uh-oh," signing for water and more, and a baby downward dog. I imagine soon I'll have a video to post of Asa walking, because he's ready to take off whenever he decides to let go! He took a couple steps on his own a couple weeks ago, but nothing since then. Lots of new words and signs, though! Oh, hes so sweet!
