A large member of the flycatcher family, Say's Phoebes prefer open areas such as fields and can often be spotted on conspicous perches as they watch for their main prey of insects. Wintering in the most southern parts of the southern States and Mexico, this species is encountered during migration especially during the spring. Status in the Checklist Area - (2) Accidental. Which is almost seen annually in our checklist area, is quite similar to the Whimbrel but the Long-billed Curlew is larger. Status in the Checklist Area - Common*. A drab female or juvenile Tree Swallow could look similar to Northern Rough-winged or Bank Swallow at a casual glance. Have similar iridescent plumage but is greenish rather than bluish. The white on a Tree Swallow does not extend up on the rump or above the eye. Ehrlich, Dobkin and Wheye, (1988). February 22, 2015.
