Theresa’s painted textiles are created using a variety of techniques including vat dyeing, resist, block printing and hand-painting to create one of a kind silk and cotton scarves. Theresa’s woven scarves, shawls, throws, rugs and table runners are made of many different weave constructions and fibers - including cotton, wool, bamboo, alpaca and silk. There is careful planning and calculating necessary to thread a loom. The blending of warp with weft and the mixture of colors and textures created are always a surprise. Designs are hand-cut into blocks, creating patterns, then used to print with dye onto either linen or cotton duck fabrics. Each design is then enhanced with hand-painted elements.
