In lieu of posting a proper post while I'm busy reading endless pdfs on international economic law, if you have Adobe 7.0 then load up any pdf and hit control shift v. If nothing happens, highlight the next bit of text - turn your speakers up! And make sure the .pdf is text-readable and not just an image.
