Tuesday, May 30, 2006. I've seen topiaries around at various gardens and they look kind of nice as a focal point or something. When I see one at the store, however, it always says "too expensive" for what it is, just a pruned bush, but I have one now and it wasn't expensive at all. I think it will survive. Somebody must have thought that my house looked like a place that would care for orphan plants. It is. Posted by Jailgy @ 5:33 PM. Saturday, May 27, 2006. Posted by Jailgy @ 2:06 PM. Check out the link to IOI on the right. Welcome and welcome. Such a cute picture to start off with. How will she be able to top it? Posted by Jailgy @ 3:57 AM. Tuesday, July 25, 2006. See how big that sun is? That is why it has been so hot. The sun has come closer than ever to the earth and is in the process of melting it to molten lava. This picture is proof. Monday, January 08, 2007. Here he is, my resident Costa's humming- bird. He has a purple head and throat. I have three feeders for humming- birds and he keeps all the others away, except for a female which I think may be his mate. Hummingbirds are so territorial and aggressive. He even buzzes around me trying to scare me away. But I'm bigger. Notice the gorget that sticks out behind his neck. It is purple, too. Now I just need to get the sun to cooperate and shine into my backyard. It'S NOT, it's rambling.

Tuesday, December 12, 2006. I'm not gone, I'm right here. So many things to get done after the funeral. Some things that got dropped as we flew back and forth across the country. Other things to tie up all the loose ends of Papa's life, not that there were many, he was a very organized person, but still. All that is not to say that I couldn't have blogged anytime I wanted to. I just didn't. I didn't have anything to say, not that I do now but maybe I do. Posted by Jailgy @ 1:17 AM. Sunday, August 27, 2006. This is Jenny. She is 25. We will call her brave. Only she is not feeling very brave right now. She is a programmer and depends greatly on her typing skills to earn a living. She is clever, though. She has learned to type with a modified keyboard with only her left hand. (My left hand is just about useless.) She filed a lawsuit with the at-fault-driver's insurance company. After three years the case finally crawled to the courts. To see an example of her work, click on the apple.

Sunday, October 29, 2006. This is what our hills looked like yesterday. You can hardly see any evidence of fire. Just a little smoke if you know where to look. It is so much more dramatic at night, don't you think? The fires have died down quite a bit. We have our nice blue sky back and we can breathe much easier. I wonder if it would be okay to sow some wildflower seeds out there? Posted by Jailgy @ 4:16 PM. Friday, October 27, 2006. Ashes, ashes all fall down. This year it fell on Thanksgiving and got lost in the shuffle. Posted by Jailgy @ 4:36 PM. Tuesday, November 21, 2006. I didn't miss the colorful leaves in Springfield after all. We missed the peak but that is okay. There were other things that needed to be done. I believe these are sugar maple leaves. Isn't that blue sky something? Since Jenny has finished her work on the Viva Pinata site, I thought we should take a look at what a finished product actually looks like, just for reference, of course, in case you have never seen one. Monday, February 19, 2007. We lost a lot of plants due to the cold weather last month but not these. These are my tete-a-tete daffodils. They are very cheery and do a lot to encourage gardening. They are just so little and so cute even amongst the dead foliage. The asparagus fern at the far right didn't make it but it looks like it will be a great year for the squill in the background. The snow-in-summer ground cover seems to be making a valiant effort to come back after freezing to nothingness. We dropp...
