CofC Bonner: After Puerto Rico..
http://cofcbonner.blogspot.com/2013/03/after-puerto-rico.html
Monday, March 11, 2013. We just got back two days ago from Puerto Rico, and although it had been nice and semi relaxing being home. I really miss the excitement of this past week! I became so much closer with the bonners on the trip which I am so grateful for! As a group, we toured San Juan, volunteered at two Boys and Girls Clubs, cleared the pathways and painted at the El Yunque National Forest, went to the beach, and ate a lot of rice and beans! Who knows I may never leave. Posted by Carolyn Walter.

CofC Bonner: Saturday's Conference, Womp Womp
http://cofcbonner.blogspot.com/2014/10/saturdays-conference-womp-womp.html
Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Saturday's Conference, Womp Womp. I know it might not be the most thrilling subject to bring up, but I really want to bring attention two brief resources that sum up my displeasure towards the keynote speaker at the leadership conference Saturday through a lens of social justice. I'll bring up the less complicated resource first: it's a 9 minute TED talk. Secondly is this discussion of bullying. If we actually started calling bullying what it is and address it as racism, sexi...

CofC Bonner: Check your privilege!
http://cofcbonner.blogspot.com/2014/10/check-your-privilege.html
Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Privilege blindness gives rise to a very important concept: you can be privileged without feeling privileged. Your privilege exists independently of your awareness of it, and independently of others’ awarenesses. It is a part of the fabric of today's society and its institutions, and it’s absolutely imperative to realize that the forces that influence your life extend beyond your immediate feelings and thoughts. It is slightly more subtle, but. Long enough already), I’m ...

CofC Bonner: Is Ecoracism Real?
http://cofcbonner.blogspot.com/2013/10/is-ecoracism-real.html
Wednesday, October 2, 2013. We talked about ecoracism a couple weeks ago with Jesse Baker from the Office of Sustainability, but I just encountered these statistics today in reading for my Race and Ethnic Relations class:. Penalties under hazardous waste laws at sites having the greatest white population were 500% higher than penalties at sites with the greatest minority population, averaging $335,566 versus $55,318. Check out this short video about their protests, and when you hear "ecoracism," think ab...
