Brunswick Women's History Trail-Loop A. Beginning with the Skolfield-Whittier House where the first woman pediatrician in Maine, Dr. Alice Whittier, and her sisters were brought up, Loop A follows Green Street and climbs Federal Street to Bowdoin College. It passes the house to which Harriet Beecher Stowe came in 1850 as an unknown Bowdoin faculty wife with six children and left two years later as the famous author of the newly published Uncle Tom's Cabin. Brunswick Women's History Trail. The website for the Brunswick Women’s History Trail is a project of the Pejepscot Historical Society, 159 Park Row, Brunswick, Maine 04011. The Society originally published it as a booklet in 1997 with a 1999 revision. The Society sponsored the website and revision in 2010. Many persons have helped with these editions. The committee for the 2010 website includes Polly Welts Kaufman, editor; Margaret Bonarrigo, webmaster; and Rebecca Roche, research assistant.
