By Faith in Fukushima. Wednesday, July 18, 2012. I'm sorry about your grandmother." I say it in careful, clear English before the smirking girl across the desk. She smells of incense and has cheeks painted pink from tears, and her smirk vanishes into a curt nod that pulls at my heart. That's the closest to admitting weakness I've ever seen her get. She is the student who inevitably makes me walk home from class thinking, "I am a horrible teacher.how else can I try to make this class work? Tonight after c...

by Faith in Fukushima: Ps. 136...kind of

http://byfaithinfukushima.blogspot.com/2011/08/ps-136kind-of.html

By Faith in Fukushima. Friday, August 26, 2011. Ps 136.kind of. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. He brings relief from heat and humidity and blesses us with cool temperatures. His love endures forever. He provides a roommate who doesn't mind cleaning mold inside the top of the toilet. His love endures forever. He opens a "new way"* (like youtube) and streams in the desert. His love endures forever. His love endures forever. His love endures forever. New way" - I am partl...

by Faith in Fukushima: November 2010

http://byfaithinfukushima.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

By Faith in Fukushima. Tuesday, November 30, 2010. In the beginning.of Christmas. Today was one of those Bible studies that I'm still scratching my head over (figuratively speaking, at least :) . At 1:25pm, I was still trying to decide whether to lead the group in John 1. Genesis 1, Revelation 21, Luke 1, or Luke 3. I really wanted to do all of them. :) And my poor students were expecting me to talk about Christmas. The message, and that they are wrestling with it. And, as we agreed in Bible study to...

http://byfaithinfukushima.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

By Faith in Fukushima. Friday, May 20, 2011. I turned from where I'd written my name on the blackboard, hands dusted with chalk, and faced my eight high-school freshman with a gulp. Opened my mouth.then closed it. Normally no matter how I'm feeling, I can force words to come out when teaching, but those eight aloof faces, masked and locked away, brought up a fear that left me speechless. Who will impact them, for good or for ill? Blah I feel overly-dramatic and overly-protective- and I really have nothin...

By Faith in Fukushima. Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Snapshot from morning prayer. Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Friday, July 22, 2011. We were all in the car, trying to retrace our steps since the earthquake and coming up with words that spilled out in ache and fear and deep tiredness. The question was raised, "What is a joyful activity right now? What do you look forward to? The car was suddenly silent. I know. Pastor's best sermon ca...

by Faith in Fukushima: December 2010

http://byfaithinfukushima.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

By Faith in Fukushima. Saturday, December 25, 2010. A Million Christmas Moments. The clock is ticking down the remaining minutes of our Christmas Day here in Fukushima. A gentle snow has been falling off and on since yesterday, and we now have our first real blanket of white outside, the colored lights on in the apartment, and- of course! The Christmas music playing. Our children in Koriyama love. We basked in the lights and the music, and I couldn't help but think, "How like God, who takes people out of...

By Faith In Goa - The journal of a Christian family's walk of faith in the land of sea, sand and sun

By Faith In Goa. The journal of a Christian family's walk of faith in the land of sea, sand and sun. February 14, 2014. Firstly sorry for the delay in posting new updates on the blog. In the past few months so much happened in our lives that I have nothing else to say other than that I am thankful to God that he brought trials into our lives so that we can be proved and bring Him glory. I feel I have grown and learned a lot in the past few months. Lynn and I thank all of you who are praying for us. Well,...

{by faith i stand}

By faith i stand}. A glimpse into my life. Sunday, July 19, 2015. Steady as it goes. Steady as it goes. This phrase popped into my head and keeps going round and round. Like it wants me to notice it, grasp it. I couldn't help but search it out. What does this mean. I don't know. But I think Jesus is teaching it to my heart a little at a time. I looked up the definition of "steady". The meanings surprised me, at how clearly it is described. Firmly fixed, supported, or balanced; not shaking or moving.

By Faith Jill…. Just another WordPress.com site. September 16, 2016. Keeping company with Jesus is not just a private spiritual act, it is the way we share the trinitarian life of God with others.
