Sunday, 29 May 2011. We hiked to Bemerton and had a class in the house that George Herbert lived in. He gave up the possibility for a luxurious life, and served God instead, along with writing beautiful and simple poems. We went to Salisbury cathedral, which was fantastic! Many of us took a 90 min tour up the tower, which is recognized as Britain’s tallest spire, at 404 feet tall. We were able to watch the bells chime 3:00, and walk out of the tower to view the city. Sunday, 29 May 2011. What a great day! We had a very long-winded tour guide at some property that Shakespeare owned, and then got to walk around the garden, which not only had gorgeous poppies and other flowers, but interesting sculptures as well. Our next stop was Hall’s Croft, where we learned about the medical ideologies of the 1500’s, which revolved around fluids: blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and another type of bile.
