https://bzroadtrip.wordpress.com/2010/04/17/were-back
A Travel Blog by Ben Bornstein and Zarla Ludin. April 17, 2010. Snowshoeing in Whitney Woods]. The trip has been over for about 4 months. It’s crazy to think that it’s been that long, but the changing weather and longer days have been proof that time is passing since our trip. Although we are no longer exploring the country, we are still exploring–mainly around New England. As a result, we’re bringing the blog back to document some of our days trips. A little hike in Ellisville. A huge boardwalk across a...
Florida Keys |

A Travel Blog by Ben Bornstein and Zarla Ludin. December 31, 2009. We couldn’t get to the Keys fast enough. It’s like driving to the Caribbean, but without the overpriced food and “cold tax.”. A view from our drive out to Key West. An iridescent bug I discovered on my backpack while adjusting my clothing access priority (removing sweaters and replacing them with t-shirts). He didn’t want to budge! Ben and Vashe in one of the boats. This one had a nearly brand new engine. The old 7-Mile Bridge. You are co...

A Travel Blog by Ben Bornstein and Zarla Ludin. Ft Lauderdale and North. December 31, 2009. We spent several days in Ft. Lauderdale visiting Donna and Bob Pope. We got to stay on their trawler on the canal. The beach got crowded. We nearly died of heatstroke walking around that day! Fishing off the trawler into the canal behind Donna and Bob’s. Fishing with ballyhoo from The Flamingo head boat around Ft. Lauderdale. The only thing we caught was bird poop on my head and on Ben’s pants. One of the old chur...
Everglades |
https://bzroadtrip.wordpress.com/2009/12/31/everglades
A Travel Blog by Ben Bornstein and Zarla Ludin. December 31, 2009. The Everglades used to be under water, and I’m not sure what keeps it above water now. We saw a multitude of mangrove trees and groves. We even saw our first alligator in the wild through a thicket of mangrove. It was calmly floating on top of the water, and when it spotted us watching it, it turned and faced us. It just stared at us. Birds of prey are abundant in the park. This hawk’s name is Radar,😉. Egret with lacy fine wings.

A Travel Blog by Ben Bornstein and Zarla Ludin. December 31, 2009. We visited Arlington Cemetery, where Zarla’s great uncle Richard is buried. He died at the age of 21 in an airplane accident over India during World War II. The remains of his plane and the other passengers on board weren’t found until the 70s. Arlington Cemetery is overwhelming. The wreaths laid out on graves at Arlington. Hail to the Chief! Where the moneys gets handled. Zarla’s favorite, the Lincoln Memorial. From → Uncategorized.
