Saturday, 30 January 2010. Glasgow based D8 have done lots of exhibition and print work. It tends to have a clean, simple aesthetic which is what I like in the work of others. I think some of the exhibition stuff for Tramway looks similar to the identity I came up with for my In/Visible Grids exhibition, which shows we're thinking along the same lines. Rather than modifying a well known font I decided to create one from scratch. Theres been an abundance of geometric typefaces in the design community recently and I think it is interesting to take type back to its simplest form. Friday, 20 August 2010. This is the colour I originally wanted the bright parts to be. Its Pantone 805 M. When I try to use it, it comes out as a pale peach colour rather than neon coral. When I try to change it to CMYK it comes out too red. So I tried to make it more orange. This results in a terracotta colour, which I don't really like. Labels: Design Context Publication. Sunday, 12 April 2009. These wonderful illustrations are the work of Lindsay J. Haynes, a student at Camberwell. I love her use of type and colour. I was worried that the text wouldn't fit in the spine properly but lulu managed to print the book very well. Kudos to them.
