ASCA (Advanced Satellite for Cosmology and Astrophysics). Is the fourth Japanese X-ray astronomy satellite launched on February 20, 1993 Tanaka et al. 1994. The collaboration between Japanese and US scientists has been carried out in the developments of the X-ray telescopes, the X-ray CCD cameras, and software. The observation log is provided by the X-ray astronomy group at ISAS. ISAS continued monitoring ASCA until the satellite reentered the atmosphere on March 2, 2001. Is maintained by C-SODA.

Yohkoh (meaning Sun-light in Japanese) is the Japanese second solar astronomical satellite following "Hinotori". Yohkoh was launched on August 30, 1991, and had been carrying out solar observations till December 15, 2001, when the satellite battery condition suffered from the solar eclipse. Yohkoh vividly revealed the dynamics of solar flares in soft and hard X-rays with unprecedented preciseness. Is maintained by C-SODA. Last Modified: 13 January 2015.

DARTS/Tenma at ISAS/JAXA

Tenma (Astro-B; launched Feb 20, 1983) was Japan's second X-ray satellite following its predecessor Hakucho (launched in 1979). Tenma carried sensitive scintillation proportional counters (SPC), with which X-ray spectroscopy of many Galactic and extra Galactic sources have been carried out.
