The legend of the Witch's Pool. Alongside the lane on Bryn-y-Garreg lies a small pool at the junction of the lane with a rough track. The pool holds a place in Welsh folklore and is known as `Pwll-yr-Wrach' or the Witch's Pool. Folklore has it that supernatural beings inhabit the depths of the pool and were responsible for the death of a villager in the mid nineteenth century. A young female villager who was in the vicinity at the time remarked that she had been watching a cuckoo landing on a nearby tree...
