The Commodre version rocks, it has nearly everything the arcade machine has. A level progress screen is missing from both versions but the Commodore has an near exact graphics match to the arcade machine. While the graphics are the same, within the machines limits of coarse, it has an exact match of the bouncy little tune that plays. For me it doubles the fun, it rocks! The Spectrum in contrast is silent except for some weird sounding sound FX.

Kiwi is armed with a bow and arrows, he later finds stronger weaponry as his quest continues. You can also use some of the equipment of your enemies as transportation, as well as swimming. The biggest problem however is obvious, bland backdrops, there is nothing there, the Commodore however has beautifull and colorfull graphics. I stated this before, by 1989 it was game over for the Spectrum, it couldn't compete anymore. The Commodore is better in all respects, better sound, graphics, scrolling and color.

The Spectrum version is very colorful, for a Spectrum game, the colorclash is obviously still there but it is handled OK. When the action gets busy the sound slows down and the scrolling is one shift instead of smooth scrolling. All the usual Spectrum issues. The Commodore has a great tune playing while the Spectrum has at least something playing, unlike Bubble Bobble whic had nothing. The Commodore version however gets the vote, the graphics on the Commodore is much better than the Spectrum. I.

This is the perfect arcade game for conversion to the 8-bit machines, it is not a complex game to convert. Walk along the passage beat up, kick or jump kick at the different enemies coming at you. Simple, but in my opinion fun, I used to really enjoy this game in the arcades. This is not rocket science, the Spectrum however fails spectacularly , excuse the bad pun. The Commodore gets the job done, well executed conversion. Clear winner here, Commodore.

Miner Willy has to negotiate the mine and collect keys to exit the different caverns, before the air runs out. There is nothing between the two versions, except the Spectrum has the usual color clash. The result is a draw. The Spectrum version has a pink main character again, my pet hate, some color clash as well. The game was well received on both platforms, it's another System 3 winner.
