The Cable Bay Farm. The property is marginal gorse clad, steep hill country but Ian was able to exploit the deer farming opportunity and also goats when those boom times were on. He no longer farms deer but still maintains goats for gorse control and sheep. A few years ago 200 hectares of land was put into pine forest in a joint partnership venture. The change in land use to subdivision for lifestyle blocks in the Nelson North area has brought a few more people to Cable Bay. There is a 2 1/2 - 3hr walkway.

One night will be kept as a booking fee. After so many years of operation and accepting our 4-legged friends, unfortunately we no longer accept dogs at the campsite. This recent season encountered a few too many naughty dogs (rather their owners! We will consider allowing dogs in the off-season upon request.

Head out on the road to Picton 10 minutes north of the city, turn left at the Hira Church. Follow Cable Bay Road until you reach the sea. We are on the left just before the Cable Bay Campground. And about 100 meters short of the boulder bank and Cable Bay beach. Please don’t park on the road as it limits visibility for pedestrians. There is parking in our car park. By Cable Bay Cafe.
