This program separates first-year Scouts in Patrols and moves them throughout a series of classes designed to assist them in developing many of the basic skills required for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks. It is important for leaders to realize that while many of the requirements for these ranks will be met, not all requirements leading to First Class can be completed in the week at camp. Pioneer Caddo Area Council. The camp has a standard Junior NRA Range for marksmanship. The range will be under the supervision of a qualified adult who will conduct safety classes and control firing on the range. Rifles, ammunition, and mats will be furnished; targets can be purchased. The shooting sports area also includes a shotgun shooting area. The camp has junior model 20 gauge shotguns and a 12 gauge shotgun for older Scouts or leaders. Scouts can purchase clay pigeons for practice.

Pioneer Caddo Area Council. At Camp Pioneer, all troop sites have wall tents, cots and mattress set up and ready for the use of Scouts and leaders. Each site is equipped with showers, restrooms, a storage building for equipment and a large shelter for troop meetings. Several of the troop sites are accessible to the physically handicapped.
