Sunday, August 30, 2009. I have been wanting to try my hand at making apple turnovers for a very long time. My first memory of an apple turnover was when I was 11 or 12 years old. I attended a summer music camp at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff Arizona. There was a bakery near the campus. I thought I had found the best thing in the world. I made them and baked them up today. They came out great. I will have to try to make some of the other deserts that are in the book that use the pastry.

It looked interesting. The dough is very, very wet and somewhat difficult to work with. I followed the recommendations from Peter Rineheart and folded and stretched the dough as instructed. My father was also on the Arizona Board of pharmacy, the President of the Arizona Pharmacy Association, and served on the National Board of Pharmacy when the established the National Exam (NAPLEX).
