Monday, July 04, 2011. Travellers Rest, Hopton. Friday night and we fancied a steak. A local pub advertised 7-95 steak night so we drove there. The car park said penalty for parking was 140. We didn't stay. Instead we drove up the hill to the Travellers Rest. Surprisingly at 7pm on Friday night they had a carvery. Partner chose that. I stayed with a steak. First though we had breaded mushrooms (her) and chicken and bacon salad with spicy salsa (me). Mine was better than hers. Been there - ate that.

Arrived after restaurant had closed but they rustled up a 4 cheese salad, a bottle of red and a piece of chocolate cake for just 12 euros each and let us sit on the terrasse to eat it. Thursday, November 24, 2005. Monty's Bistro, Lerwick. After being given directions during the day I finally found Monty's. Good write-up on the net - specialising in Shetland food and a cosy little upstairs dining area. Not sure about the orange walls. Mussels to start in a double cream, lemon and a touch of green chili sauce. Super big mussels (hope they were local) but the sauce didn't have much chili touch at all.
