I had a great time getting to know another local wine maker, Matt Dees at Jonata. Vineyards in Santa Ynez. Wine Spectator. Hired me to make these images. I spent the day making portraits, and then was left in the vineyard until sunset to make photos of the vines and Oak Trees. Jonata is Chumash for Oak. Posted by Web Site.

Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles. Photographs of the Windy City. Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Ethnic Specialty Stores in Chicago. Where once the enclaves were located primarily within Chicago city limits, they can now be found throughout the suburbs. A suburb 30 miles due west from downtown Chicago. Friday, February 15, 2008. Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles. Photographs of the Windy City. Thursday, February 4, 2010. Is Stock Photography Worth the Effort? In the ten months since my last blog post, I have been re-evaluating my participation in stock photography. But things have changed. Lest I sound curmudgeonly, please note that I like change. I like challenges. I like digital cameras. I like being able to upload digital files. I like having my own website. I doubt it. Me either. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles: February 2009
http://chicago-photographs.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles. Photographs of the Windy City. Thursday, February 26, 2009. Wedding in Millennium Park. Has become a favorite location for wedding party group photographs, particularly in the AT&T Plaza with the Bean sculpture as a backdrop. From large, formal wedding parties such as this one with the camera and video crew along to smaller gatherings, the highly reflective surface of the Cloud Gate. Sculpture makes for dramatic photos that can only be had in Chicago. A Chicago photog...

Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles: Chicago's LaSalle Street
http://chicago-photographs.blogspot.com/2008/07/chicagos-lasalle-street.html
Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles. Photographs of the Windy City. Friday, July 25, 2008. LaSalle Street, the heart of the financial district in Chicago, is lined with numerous imposing edifices featured in numerous movies including the The Dark Knight. And rightly so. The stately columns of the Federal Reserve Bank and the art deco Chicago Board of Trade. Building form the southern end of the money district and the light often bounces from one to the other in an interesting way. Links to More Photos.

Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles. Photographs of the Windy City. Friday, January 25, 2008. Hidden between Chicago's Millennium Park and Lake Shore Drive lies a Cancer Survivors Garden with wonderful flowers, benches and an ornate metal open-air structure. One late summer day I stumbled upon this quiet place of respite and wondered how it had escaped my notice for so long. Labels: Cancer Survivors Garden. Monday, January 21, 2008. Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles: Cool Elevators
http://chicago-photographs.blogspot.com/2009/02/cool-elevators.html
Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles. Photographs of the Windy City. Friday, February 6, 2009. In 1976, a new vertical retail mall, Water Tower Place, opened on North Michigan Avenue which coincided with my freshman year at a suburban college in the Chicago area. Growing up in Springfield, Illinois, I was very familiar with horizontal malls, but with not with vertical ones. And certainly not with a vertical mall that had glass elevators in the middle of the building. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://chicago-photographs.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Chicago Photography by Kim Karpeles. Photographs of the Windy City. Tuesday, September 23, 2008. One of the most recognizable buildings in Chicago, the Old Water Tower presides over the north end of the Magnificent Mile and a lovely urban park. Constructed in 1869 of Joliet limestone, the Water Tower and the Pumping Station located directly across Michigan Avenue, were the only two public buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire in 1871.
