October 06, 2013. A Tutorial on Classes. Pretend we’re a team of astronomers, and we just discovered a new solar system. Our task is organizing, classifying, and building functions to describe it. We don’t know much yet. Only that we have a bunch of spherical-looking objects floating around pretty close to each other. We also know that we’re going to be collecting a similar (but unique! Creates a sphere-like object for our solar-system. Take the radius of a stellar obect and returns a volume. And that is...

September 14, 2013. Cleaning Cobwebs, how a brief hiatus got dirty. As I mentioned in my previous post, I was accepted to. A data science boot camp based in San Francisco. And as of about 2 weeks ago, I was still living in Seattle. So after getting accepted I was immediately swamped with what seemed like an endless amount of planning and organizing as I readied myself for a move to San Francisco. But I made it! How do you get rid of cobwebs? Designed by Artur Kim.

Mommy & baby favs for the early weeks. January 12, 2017. I had NO idea what to expect when we brought our baby Issac home from the hospital. Even though I have tons of experience with kids, being a first time mom is a little frightening. Thankfully Isaac is an extremely content baby, sleeps through the night and only cries when he’s hungry 🙂. I’m still getting the hang of the “mom-life”, but I’m loving every minute and everyday with my little guy. Something I didn’t know I needed until he was born.

Caffeinated Cyclist – over half a century of stupidity
Over half a century of stupidity. December 13, 2016. Over my years I’ve learned that there are more frogs than princes, and women grow weary of kissing frogs, yet they settle for frogs and wonder why their life is not fulfilling. Her coffee had grown cold, yet she sipped from the cup as if still enjoying it. Truth be told, his outlook unnerved her. The intent was not to insult, but nonetheless it struck an awkward chord. Was he being critical of women? Where does that leave the princes? December 13, 2016.

November 25, 2013. Over the last three weeks I created my first data product, BullsEye. It’s a tool that let’s an analyst slice into a user base and target individuals with a high probability of subscribing. I created it using Last.fm. With those statistics in mind, I removed users who had low playcounts from the dataaset and wound up with about 8,000 users who had listened to at least five songs. As my main scoring metric. With beta equal to two, I was able to put more weight on recall than precision.

I made a wiki from scratch, as I was tired of evernote, and dissatisfied with having to use dokuwiki and dropbox. This allows for editting from anywhere, and runs for free on Heroku, using scala and the Play! For two semesters I've helped to teach the HTML beginners course for CodeFirst: Girls at Sheffield University. I've worked with Sheffield Hallam and the Moor Market on an art installation, printing out local artwork for the public, based on various themes around Sheffield. Watch the numbers go up.
