Om Shanti: A Yoga Blog. Bad Sequencing = Dangerous Sequencing. June 5, 2013. Since moving to Chicago last fall, I’ve taken a lot of yoga classes at a lot of different studios. As you might expect, these classes have varied wildly in terms of the quality of instruction. Some have been wonderful, most have been pretty average, and a few have been, well, just plain bad. So how might a teacher screw up this sequencing? Well, say a yoga teacher decides to mix things up and adds the full splits, aka. Since you...

Doug Swenson (left) and Me (Right). I remember Doug helping me up in an assisted handstand, long before I could actually hold a handstand. I couldn't see what he was doing, but as my balance shifted in handstand, he would apply get pressure to realign my hips over my hands. It felt like flying! Sometimes I think much of my yoga practice is trying to recreate that momement, that feeling of flight. 2003 In the beginning. Found a couple of yoga DVDs in a $3 dollar bin at Best Buy. What I am learning is a lesson that I continue to learn over and over again. I have a toolbox, and I should use it. June 8, 2014.
