Cake Balls

Because they're delicious, addictive, surprising, memorable. Friday, April 19, 2013. I ran into a friend at the library yesterday. Told her I was applying for teaching jobs. I have to say, I wasn’t upset that the local high school rejected me, after I’d learned that the teaching load is six sections of 36 students. Can you imagine grading over 200 papers? How can a teacher possibly give frequent, constructive feedback to 200 students? How do charter schools do it? Our society has unrealistic expectations...

Cake Balls: June 2012

http://www.cakeballs.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Because they're delicious, addictive, surprising, memorable. Saturday, June 30, 2012. We all have them- right? 1 We're surrounded by adults who run marathons and 5-year-olds who ride bikes, swim, ski, play tennis, soccer, and baseball. 3 My house is not spotless. The shelves and drawers aren't organized. My neighbors' houses are clean and organized. 4 My neighbors are nicer than I am. Friday, June 15, 2012. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Cake Balls: 'tis the season

http://www.cakeballs.blogspot.com/2012/12/tis-season.html

Because they're delicious, addictive, surprising, memorable. Tuesday, December 18, 2012. We have a cold virus making its rounds. Ellie has been snotty for weeks, but miserably so since about Saturday. We're talking coughing half the night (ah, for the days when doctors could prescribe cough medicine for children), lying listless and silent half the day. Poor dear. So today I am very happy that she is smiling and making macaroni crafts (quote of the morning: "I'm busy coloring my noodle").

Chocolate chips (or dipping chocolate, coconut, chopped nuts). 1 Prepare cake according to package instructions. Let cool. Put cake in large bowl. Add tub of frosting. Mix with a large spoon. Full-time mother of four, part-time writing instructor. Decided that as a writing instructor I ought to actually write.

Cake Balls: July 2012

Because they're delicious, addictive, surprising, memorable. Monday, July 30, 2012. Not our kids, who have repeatedly commented, "Been there, done that," but are very happy to be home. Friday, July 27, 2012. Just heard a blurb on NPR: Expert says, "All the Greeks were color-blind. They saw everything in black and white, with maybe a tinge of red." How on earth would we know this? Saturday, July 21, 2012. How many people will be shot before we embrace gun control? I fear the answer is "all of us"). Put ca...

the wright stuff...: happy turkey day!

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2011/04/happy-turkey-day.html

Sunday, April 24, 2011. We had so much fun with Scott and Cindy's family over Thanksgiving! The kids loved playing with their cousins, Landon and Parker, and we all had a great time together. The day after our Thanksgiving feast with Mama Kit and Papa Len, we kicked-off the Christmas season with a little gingerbread house party. In honor of the movie we all saw together, Scott made the tower from "Tangled.". This was their "superhero" pose:. We can't wait to see you again! Two can be trouble.

the wright stuff...: June 2009

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2009. A fifth grader's g.n.o. Rebecca and her friends thought it was funny to inflate their swimsuits. I thought so, too! Rebecca and her friend created this center piece. They figured that girls like shoes and puppies- voila! Monday, June 29, 2009. She can swim, she can swim! These past few weeks, she has pushed herself beyond her comfort zone and is doing great. Over the weekend, she sported some goggles so she could do some underwater viewing- a huge step for someone who has work...

the wright stuff...: fun out of the sun

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2011/04/fun-out-of-sun.html

Sunday, April 17, 2011. Fun out of the sun. The first week of August, 2010, we squeezed in a week in Southern California before school started. Summer ended up being a bit stressful, after Jeff's nose injury derailed our routine. It was wonderful to escape the heat and have fun with friends and family. Becky is so creative, and introduced us to the joy of homemade slime. We had a spectacular day at Sea World! The whole week was great fun, and the perfect ending to our summer. Two can be trouble. Fun out ...

the wright stuff...: princess giggles celebrates another year

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2011/04/katies-6th-birthday.html

Sunday, April 17, 2011. Princess giggles celebrates another year. We had fun celebrating Katie's 6th birthday - and I have absolutely NO pictures! We had a very buggy birthday party, complete with Give the Ladybug her Spots, bug sorting, and several other themed games. Katie had several friends from her half-day kindergarten class at Finley Farms, plus some neighbors and church friends. I guess I was so busy entertaining the big group, I neglected to take pictures. Two can be trouble. Fun out of the sun.

the wright stuff...: August 2009

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Katie just walked in the door and said:. Mommy, I figured out who I'm going to marry today: Austin. He said he's going to marry me, too! Do you know why I had a smile on my face when I got off the bus? Because I'm really excited to marry Austin! Monday, August 17, 2009. Happy 10th birthday rebecca! I took this picture to show the outfit Rebecca. Wanted for her birthday. She wore it to school today and got a very positive response. Coming into her own style. Is FUNNY these days!

the wright stuff...: November 2009

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 2, 2009. As ever, we had more Halloween festivities and candy than anyone could possibly need! We had a church fall festival/trunk-or-treat on Wednesday (FUN but COLD), I helped at the kids' class parties in school on Friday (JUNK food galore), and enjoyed our always festive street for the actual trick-or-treating. I think Rebecca makes a beautiful brunette! The glasses are my favorite! Katie got to dress up in costume for a dance performance. As we sat at the edge of the pond, I started...

the wright stuff...: July 2010

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 26, 2010. Baby turns two (not really, but don't tell). We celebrated Matthew's birthday today! The actual day isn't for another week, but we rescheduled it for today because we won't all be together at that time. Matthew really enjoyed his day! Matthew was so excited about his cake, his presents, and the birthday phone calls. Matthew knew just what to do with the candles and got them out on his first blow! Check out his dimple.). The missed catch that messed up our summer- and jeff's nose.

the wright stuff...: when hail freezes over - in the desert

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2011/04/when-hail-freezes-over-in-desert.html

Sunday, April 17, 2011. When hail freezes over - in the desert. On October 5, 2010, Matthew and I found ourselves witnesses to a phenomenal desert storm. It started out as rain, got increasingly more powerful, and soon Matthew and I stood at the sliding door, watching walnut-sized hail pelt our yard, pool, landscaping, and everything else outside. I thought to myself, "Wow! This is like the beginning of a hurricane or tornado! Two can be trouble. When hail freezes over - in the desert. Fun out of the sun.

the wright stuff...: d-e-b-u-t spells fun!

http://jeff-n-whitney.blogspot.com/2011/04/d-e-b-u-t-spells-fun.html

Sunday, April 24, 2011. Rebecca is sitting here, telling me that "d-e-b-u-t" does not spell fun. But, Andrew may beg to differ! In December, he was cast as Sherlock Holmes in his 3rd grade program. In his first role onstage, he hammed it up during three performances of "Geology Rocks," a presentation of songs and script about the search for a specific rock. Two can be trouble. When hail freezes over - in the desert. The wrights take over oak tree elementary. 1st day of school 2010-2011. Fun out of the sun.
