Irreverent Ramblings: February 2011
http://calebcorner.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
This being a collection of thoughts and musings of a somewhat random nature. So the Oscars have been given out again, and most of the predicted favourites have won. Of the main contenders, I have seen The Social Network, The King's Speech, Black Swan, The Fighter and Inception. The techncal awards largely went to Inception, though a thought must be spared for the great cinematographer Roger Deakins. That he is still Oscar-less is a great travesty that the Academy must rectify at some point. I wish to fin...
Irreverent Ramblings: 30 Books Before 30
http://calebcorner.blogspot.com/2011/02/30-books-before-30.html
This being a collection of thoughts and musings of a somewhat random nature. 30 Books Before 30. I've decided to amend my previous list to keep things along the lines of the '30' theme. The 30 selections I have made are a rather eclectic bunch. The only defining criteria was that I do truly want to read all of the books on this list, and more than that I can actually stomach reading them. It is for that reason that you won't fine Dante's Divine Comedy. I would probably end up going what the hell? On the ...

This being a collection of thoughts and musings of a somewhat random nature. This is taken from John Armstrong's In Search of Civilisation:. A human being is the only creature which can reflect upon its own existence, conceive of its own death, and fake orgasm". So much for writing, or speech and language, or the use of our opposable as what separates us from being mere animals. More on Books and Love. This had a painful sting of truth to it. This being a collection of thoughts and musings of a somewhat random nature. I am probably being premature about this, but I thought I would start early. All too often people begin this existential soul searching after they cross their 29th birthday, and the tasks they set themselves are a little on the frivolous side (e.g. go sky diving, visit the Pyramids, bake a pumpkin pie! In no particular order, the thirty things are:. Learn the basics of English grammar and linguistics. Complete a short collection...

This being a collection of thoughts and musings of a somewhat random nature. A Million Words and Counting. A Million Word and Counting. Citadel Press, 2008. There have been innumerable books and articles on the notion that English has become the global language, the international language of business and the chosen medium of cross-cultural communication. Much has been made of how globalizing forces has cemented English's status as the lingua franca (perhaps lingua anglia? World Quizzing Championships 2010.

Film is a REAL degree. Thursday, March 31, 2005. In Bruges but heading to Antwerp (Belgium). After spending the day in Bruges, my brother and i are setting off for Antwerp once we have bought some chocolate to last us the leg of the trip. OoooooOO la la. had lunch at some quaint little cafe and my brother ordered hot chocolate (what else would have done this place the justice? And it came as a glass of hot milk and a saucer of milk chocolate bits. YUMMY! Onward bound to fashion capital ANTWERP! You ask&#...

Film is a REAL degree. Monday, February 28, 2005. Decisions decisions. Opinion Poll. I have been thinking for some time whether i should run for tap dancing society's executive committee. initially it was just a thought and i was thinking maybe i run for something small like equal opportunities officer because i was afraid that it might clash with singapore society commitments. Here is my dilema. Singsoc term of office runs from nov 2004 to oct/nov 2005. Their jazz dance was sooooooo cool! Josh said that...

Film is a REAL degree. Saturday, July 30, 2005. The advantages of being short and fat. 1) you can shop in childrens' stores in the UK. B) less skimpy clothing. C) you can find a skirt meant for 15 year olds that are supposed to be 170cm tall and it is JUST the right length (i.e. not short short) and it will fit nicely above your hips. Case in point - my GBP 5 skirt from Tammy in Birmingham (it was such a good buy! Case in point - my 2 new pairs of Fox jeans that came up to $56.80. Posted by ade at 7:09 am.

Film is a REAL degree. Saturday, May 28, 2005. Lost steam for a while, but I'M BACK WORKING FOR GOD. I got back my Modes of Reading essay on tuesday and horror of horrors, she gave me a 59! But i'm back on my feet (hopefully) because i remembered what eliza said on tuesday in cell - she was telling me that her friend reminded her that even though we let God take control, we cant give up working because Jesus said "Come to Me, all you who labour. And AMY WAN IS VISITING ME TODAY! Posted by ade at 3:14 pm.

Film is a REAL degree. Thursday, June 30, 2005. Sometimes you find a song that you totally identify with. I've dealt with my ghosts and I've faced all my demons. Finally content with a past I regret. I've found you find strength in your moments of weakness. For once I'm at peace with myself. I've been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long. I've lived in this place and I know all the faces. Each one is different but they're always the same. They mean me no harm but it's time that I face it.
Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man Fan: Where religion enters, common sense leaves

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man Fan. Monday, December 3, 2007. Where religion enters, common sense leaves. Before you even ask, prom was great. I don't think I've ever exhibited such cam-whore-ism before but it was still fun. And respect to Amoz for understanding that when your Dad drives all the way to Shangri-La hotel to pick you up at eleven at night, you do not. Okay, that's not technically true but I really don't understand why there's this huge fuss about the Golden Compas. Firstly, ther...

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man Fan. Friday, January 25, 2008. Nyargh, I really need to freak out about what I found out but I can't freak out here because some people actually do read this and the wierd thing is that I'm freakin' out because I can't tell anybody. AND that I totally saw this coming! Or not. Well, maybe. I dunno. Blargh (honkhonk). On a less cryptic note, I have a gay-dar! And it freakin' works! Would it be beyond weird if I put up a personal add for a co-op buddy? I got a new blog!

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man Fan. Tuesday, January 1, 2008. Maybe a bit of the other reason is that I didn't want to go and watch a whole bunch of people starting their ACJC experience for the first time. I envy them that. I had a great 2 years, made some really good friends and I wish it weren't over. But it is and I shall content myself with crashing Spectra meetings. :). This is a compltely depressing new-year post. My first awareness of photography as an art and craft came from finding a photo book on a shelf in my parents’ room,. In Search of the Monkey Girl. Which my uncle, Randal Levenson, published about the last of the circus freak shows touring America in the mid-70’s before they disappeared completely. Of the given moment.

This being a collection of thoughts and musings of a somewhat random nature. The Danger of Not Caring. The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference." - Elie Wiesel.
