The Caledon Home Guard. The 34th Infantry Division. An original shoulder patch of the 34th Infantry Division. This is a Texas Division,note the shape of the patch,it is the shape of a Mexican Cistern "a jug used for carrying water", also the red bull in the centre of the patch depicts one of the old steers that could be seen in Texas. The Caledon Home Guard. The 34th Infantry Division. The 2nd Medical Battalion. The 2nd Med Batt came to Caledon in 1943 and stayed until April then moved to Wales to their staging area for the move to France. The 2nd Med Batt stayed in Caledon Castle while they were in N.Ireland. Their Commanding Officer was Lt.Col Cecil F. Jorn's. The Aerial photograph below highlights the concrete bases of Nissen Huts and pathways around the camp area,and also gives you an idea of the size of the camp used during WW2. The Caledon Home Guard. The 34th Infantry Division. The Officers of the 133rd Inf Regt, 34th Inf Div occupied Lord Caledons Castle,here they are going in to the castle 1942. This is a lovely picture of the Travelers coming into Caledon,takes you back to another time. Take a look at the top right of the picture and you will see the Nissen hut with smoke coming out of the chimmney, the photograph was taken the same time as the pictures above,not a military picture but nice all the same.
