Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015: A place at the table
http://sarahwittenberg2015.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-place-at-table.html
Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015. Friday, May 1, 2015. A place at the table. We were a small group, but it was full of laughter and conversation and a lot of learning! The town is also getting busier with visitors for the dedication of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod's Wittenberg Project. They have renovated the old boys Latin school near the Town Church to be a center for study and conferences as 2017 approaches. You can learn more about the project here: The Wittenberg Project. Labels: Lost and Found.

Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Kruezkirche means Cross Church. The original church in the 1100s was Roman Catholic and claimed to have a piece of the cross upon which Jesus was crucified. When the church burned during an attack, the piece of the cross burned. The church was converted to Protestant during the Reformation. The church was remained standing during the bombing of World War II, but the inside was burned out from the firebombs. The inside was a big surprise! Links Conne...

Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015: Wittenberg Prepares for 2017
http://sarahwittenberg2015.blogspot.com/2015/05/wittenberg-prepares-for-2017.html
Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015. Friday, May 8, 2015. Wittenberg Prepares for 2017. This morning I spent my time reading commentaries for my sermon on Saturday (it's not all fun and games here, people! Below is a picture of the Schlosskirche doors where Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses. This is a replica because the original doors were burned long ago. This bronze version of the doors is engraved with Luther's theses. The back side of the Augusteum and the Katie Luther statue in the courtyard. This eve...

Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015: I (We) did it!
http://sarahwittenberg2015.blogspot.com/2015/05/i-we-did-it.html
Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015. Monday, May 4, 2015. I (We) did it! It's probably good that I didn't know exactly what Beth Schnabel (the Deputy Director for Wittenberg English Ministry) had in mind for us today. We ended up biking 40 km today from Wittenberg Lutherstadt through Coswig and on to Worlitz. On the way, we rode by the chemical plant just outside of Wittenberg. A very large number of people in Wittenberg work at that plant. Lucas Cranach also painted the altarpiece in Luther's church here in...

Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015: Last day in Lutherstadt Wittenberg
http://sarahwittenberg2015.blogspot.com/2015/05/last-day-in-lutherstadt-wittenberg.html
Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015. Sunday, May 17, 2015. Last day in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. We enjoyed a special service at the Stadtkirche this morning. The service was in German, but I didn't have to understand it to see how special it was as we witnessed the adult baptism of a young father. We also had the pleasure of hearing from a traveling choir and a trio of two trumpets and a saxophone. And I finally had the pleasure of meeting the pastor from the Stadtkirche, Pastor Kristin Jahn. Dr Kathryn (Kit)...

Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015: Calm Wednesday
http://sarahwittenberg2015.blogspot.com/2015/05/calm-wednesday.html
Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015. Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Wednesday was a calm day after our action-packed days off. I prepared my reflections on Acts 10:44-48 for the chapel services. I was thinking about how God works ahead of us, drawing us past our own boundaries. We had people from Denmark and Pennsylvania and Iowa and Germany at chapel tonight. They were great singers! After chapel, I attended evening prayer with the Lutheran Sisters in German. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A very busy day off.

Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015: Back to work
http://sarahwittenberg2015.blogspot.com/2015/05/back-to-work.html
Pastor Sarah in Wittenberg 2015. Thursday, May 14, 2015. At 3:55 yesterday, my Deputy Director and I talked about how this might be the day where no one came to chapel service. At 4 pm we had 12 people from Florida, Illinois, British Columbia and Sweden. It has certainly been a joy to lead worship for people from all over the world! And even more startling what happens if no one cares or pays anymore. I found this pile in the back of one cemetery. Some of those are gravestones! After chapel I caught a pr...
