Justice | Cambridging the Gap
https://cambridgingthegap.wordpress.com/2014/11/11/justice
Sustainability cannot be achieved without equality. November 11, 2014. To summarise it into one word: Justice. To at least speak out against injustice is a step in the right direction. There is a ‘teaching’ (for lack of a better English word) in my religion (Islam) that aptly describes this notion and it has somewhat been ingrained in me over time:. I think that’s a topic for another blog post. Sorry that this blog post has probably given you more to think about than solutions. The Colours of the Rainbow.

Sustainability cannot be achieved without equality. A blog about a blog. December 24, 2014. Chilling with the East African Society last night was one of the loveliest evenings I have had in Cambridge so far! I met a diverse array of people studying absolutely different and interesting things. My favourite part by far was the tea. Kenyans know how to make good chai! It tasted like home and I really needed a bit of homeliness in this festive season! I wished for a moment that I could capture them all!

Sustainability cannot be achieved without equality. December 7, 2014. Last week I had the honour of meeting the lovely Dr Pauline Essah, who honestly made my week (and possibly changed the course of my future but more on that another time). Every word she said resonated in my heart. Being Ghanaian, she told me her story of coming to Cambridge (some 15 years ago) and making the exact same observation of ‘Where are all the black people? A blog about a blog →. One thought on “ Challenge Accepted. I think yo...

Sustainability cannot be achieved without equality. March 12, 2016. He started off by saying he works at the university and ranted that ‘this thing of diversity’ is nonsense. I tried to explain the fact that when I am surrounded by pictures of old white men it is hard for me to identify with the culture here and Cambridge needs to feel more inclusive. He carried on ranting that ‘you people’ (which people, I am not sure) should be grateful that we are. Me: Far better off! Me: Then what am I? Fortunately, ...

Let’s start a new experience in my life. From now on, I am also a blogger. What is the reason for creating this blog? What would you ask them? Good start and...

This is me, thinking out loud. Monthly Archives: September 2014. Dear Mr. President. Dear Mr. President,. Come take a walk with me. Let’s pretend we’re just two people and. You’re not better than me. I’d like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly. What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street? Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep? What do you feel when you look in the mirror? How do you sleep while the rest of us cry? How do you walk with your head held high?

This is me, thinking out loud. My heart is happy. Last night I had the greatest thing happen. I had my heart made so full that I could only but feel a bit down today. I had my heart filled to capacity with happiness, that a normal amount of happiness feels.less. So even for the person who does not know him, he is an amazing performer. He is an extremely talented musician, truly loves and lives the music, he lives for positivity and goodness, and he brings all of that to his performance. He makes ...Notif...

This is me, thinking out loud. Monthly Archives: March 2015. Another day, Another farewell. I am left here in this empty house,. No longer a home, in this city,. No longer safe,. Because all that made me safe,. Is now somewhere else in the world. I am left in this empty house, in this empty city, in all its beauty,. And I am grateful for what we had,. And I am left wondering,. What next, who next. My heart is happy. So even for the person who does not know him, he is an amazing performer. He is an ex...

This is me, thinking out loud. I wish I lived in a country that was friendly to hitch-hikers. Or rather, I wish our country was hitch-hiker friendly. I spend a lot of time driving. And 90% of that time I spend driving alone, maybe even 95%. While it isn’t a huge car, there is almost always enough space for four other people in it. And there are always people in the street, walking, needing to get to some place. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). Constructing ...

This is me, thinking out loud. Monthly Archives: August 2014. If I choose it. I dreamt of earthquakes,. I saw the mountains explode. And felt at peace;. It didn’t occur to me to panic. I shift between sadness and positivity. Because surely this is destiny. But the destruction is so devastating,. And I’m reminded to remember. That this life is beautiful. And despite the earthquakes. If I choose to. Because I can also choose to whither. All around, others give hope, and see hope, and are hope. The pregnant...

This is me, thinking out loud. The holy cities: Part 1. I miss Makkah. And I think I’m finally ready to write about it. Algamdulillah (praise be to God), I was blessed with the opportunity to visit the holy cities and sites in Saudi Arabia – Makkah, home to the holy Ka’ba, and Madina, home to the mosque of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This city, and this airport, did not comfort me. But it gave me a Kickstart to what I should expect for the rest of the trip. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You a...

Tuesday, 6 November 2007. The tour of the Fitz was organized by the "Fellow Borderer" at Johns, a retired professor of Italian and Classics who has created this position for himself, supposedly to serve as a bridge between the fellows and the graduate students, but considering how gregarious the man is, I think it's more likely the main purpose was just to give himself a continuous stream of social events to organize and attend. Friday, 2 November 2007. Are you at the pub? Luckily, he was calling to let ...
