One of the most interesting things I've ever been involved in is Metaplace, and it has been announced today. That metaplace.com, the User-Generated Content portion of their business, will be closing as of January 1st. From a technological point-of-view, I think Metaplace did it right; I've said to others that it's very much the way that I would have done it, had I written my own engine.
