These paintings explore inner experience, and express relationship with Self and Other. The figures and faces are both substance and context. Often the multiple figures are aspects of one self. Although these are painted directly out of my own experience, I believe that many people are concerned with similar experiences. Murals and Screens are painted by commission. Landscapes are my preferred subject, but I will consider other possibilities. For example, once I painted a circus in a child’s closet! I enjoy working with clients to envision the design, colors, and mood that they seek for a mural or screen. Are oil paint on panel, framed in hardwood with hinges that can be swung both directions, and backed with high quality cloth selected by either the client or the artist. Deer in the Meadow. Inside at Watch Island. Sun Path on Waves. Hornbeam Grove in Spring. Little Waves on the Beach. These paintings are done quickly, on the spot, in direct response to the chosen subject. I am fascinated by movement, air and water, light, and seasonal subtleties. As a result of these direct studies, I will occasionally go further. For example, see the recent paintings of figure silhouettes that reflect the landscape. Folding screens and murals are another outcome of these studies.
