May 4, 2011. I was never big on food and mealtimes. As a child, I resented being forced to eat the soup with rather questionable floaties, or drink the warm freshly expressed milk with a layer of fat on top. I also blame my aversion to lamb to those days. It took a while for me to recognize the love behind all the meals that were prepared. Filling our tummies = expressions of love. See? And sure enough, all those things that once terrorized me, are now some of my fondest memories. Grandpa Jaime and Paxton.

Oct 28, 2012. Right outside one of the bases's gates is Itaewon, the "foreigner's district". I spotted an Outback Steakhouse there which I predict we will visit sometime in the next 22 months. Oct 27, 2012. From Paxton's school journal. Here they are- all dutifully printed, cut, and narrated by his teacher, Miss J. Oct 25, 2012. Oct 14, 2012. A car, a car! Or, as Paxton would say "all done taxis, all done". Now we have lots of this to look forward to. Oct 7, 2012. Per family requests- here are some pictu...

Jun 21, 2012. He hates changing from his pjs though. That's when the day of mothering a toddler boy really begins. If Kevin is still here when we get Paxton out of his crib, I ask (beg) to change him before he leaves. Those are good days. Here is Paxton this morning taking a break from talking to grandma T, as I delayed the inevitable task of giving him fresh "ropas". Jun 8, 2012. In a new york minute. Some of the highlights of the trip:. Nap in Central Park. Puffins, and a polar bear.

Feb 22, 2014. I want to remember. That [most of the time] these boys of mine are as sweet as can be. P is always telling me "I like you so much, mami"- it makes up for all those dinner time battles. That other day I had just watched a particularly depressing movie and I started bawling as I was sitting on the floor watching T play. He walked over to me to rub my head and give me kisses. That they both amaze me everyday. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I want to remember. The generations before us.

Mar 31, 2013. The boys on easter. I have a few posts in the works (so far, they have a title), but it will be a while before I catch up. And since these boys wore their awesome made-in-korea ties today and the small ones had their matching sweater vests, we snapped a few pictures. Thanks to Mamima for sharing the bounty of her mad knitting skills. And happy birthday to mama Juana (my other grandma), who would have turned one year older today! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Feb 1, 2012. This year came and went. I will try to post some pictures and journal entries for some individual events, but here is a summary (everyone is doing it). Kevin started his Master's program in Applied Economics in January. Some long days ahead for the whole family, but let's get it done pronto. Our little P turned 1 in February. And took his first steps in March. Paxton and I had lots of quality time in April. My brother Roman started school at Virginia Tech in May. Lots of yard work in June.

Sep 22, 2012. Hi friends, this is the husband/dad. Miluska had a baby last night! She was braver and stronger than anyone I've known in this world. And our baby was born 100% drug-free natural. Speaking of the baby, yes this is the post where I put up some newborns pics. See below. For those who have to know the key statistics (is there anyone that really cares beyond gender when it's another person's child? Tiago William Smith was born September 21, 2012 at 10:24 pm Korea time. (Eight days early! I am p...

Feb 22, 2013. Scattered thoughts - first winter in Korea. Well, here we are at the end of February. And this is the first post of the year! He has been enjoying group nap with Tiago and myself, and he stopped talking to me in Spanish. I guess he reached that age when he realized that mommy speaks English and why bother. Thankfully reinforcements have arrived from Peru in the form or a grandma and a Heidi. It has only been 6 days and he is already at 40% Spanish (up from about 5%). Labels: in the home.

Dec 3, 2013. A couple of weeks ago we put up our Christmas decorations, all but the outdoor lights. Paxton and I were coming home from school one afternoon a few days later and he said that he wanted to put up the lights outside. So I replied: "Daddy las va a poner para Thanksgiving". Paxton's response was: "what's pranksgiving? I suppressed my laughter. But seriously, there is something wrong with my pronunciation and/or my diction, in both languages! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
